Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Bengals CB Chidobe Awuzie (back) is active for today's game against the Seahawks. Use him as planned in your IDP lineups.
Bengals CB Chidobe Awuzie (back) is inactive for today's game against the Cardinals. CB Cam Taylor-Britt (concussion) and Edge Trey Hendrickson (back) are active, after entering the day questionable.
Bengals Edge Trey Hendrickson (back), CB Cam Taylor-Britt (concussion), and CB Chidobe Awuzie (back) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Hendrickson popped up late on the injury report after missing Friday's practice. Awuzie's injury also popped up during the practice week, limiting his Thursday participation and then holding him out Friday. Taylor-Britt looks most likely to play. He finished the week with a full Friday practice.
The Bengals chose Edge Myles Murphy 28th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Murphy had a strange progression through three years at Clemson. He led the team with 12.0 tackles for loss as a true freshman in 2020 and then led the Tigers again in 2021. Murphy ranked just third on the team in total pressures as a junior, though. He presents some position versatility along the line and tested well at Clemson’s pro day. Murphy sat inside the top 10 of our pre-draft IDP rookie rankings. He goes to a Cincinnati defense that doesn't have an immediate edge need. Don't be surprised if Murphy sees limited rookie-year time.
The Bengals are re-signing LB Germaine Pratt for three years at $21 million, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Pratt's playing time fluctuated a bit in 2022, his fourth season with the team. His 75.6% snap share across 15 regular-season games marked a career high and his third straight increase in that category. Pratt also played 83% or more of the snaps in each of the final five contests, including the three playoff contests. Cincinnati also significantly decreased Pratt's special-teams role in 2022. All of this points to Pratt potentially delivering more consistent IDP value in 2023. We boosted him up the dynasty rankings on this contract news.
The NFL announced Tuesday that it won't resume the Bills-Bengals game -- halted by S Damar Hamlin's collapse -- this week. The league added that it will keep the Week 18 schedule intact and that no decision has yet been made on how to treat Monday night's game going forward. That means fantasy football leagues and contest providers will either have to wait for further word on the resumption of that contest or figure out alternate solutions. We'll certainly be watching for updates on that front -- as well as, of course, any updates on Hamlin's condition.
Bengals DL Sam Hubbard (calf) is questionable for Monday night's game against the Bills. He remained limited in practice all week after missing last Saturday's game. Hubbard might be worth a shot if his game weren't the last of the weekend. As it is, it will be difficult to wait for him in IDP lineups -- especially without knowing whether an active Hubbard might see a more limited role than usual. Try to avoid him.
Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt (shoulder) is active for today's game against the Patriots.
The Bengals have ruled DE Sam Hubbard (calf) out for Saturday's game against the Patriots. EDGE Trey Hendrickson, however, will play after missing last week with a fractured left wrist. We'll see how effective he is with 1 good arm. Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt (shoulder) is questionable for the game.
Bengals DE Sam Hubbard injured his left calf in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the team expects Hubbard to miss "a few weeks" with the "hope" that he can make it back for the playoffs. Cincinnati was already missing EDGE Trey Hendrickson on Sunday, after he fractured a wrist the previous game. We'll see who's starting at those end spots for a Week 16 visit to New England.
Bengals EDGE Trey Hendrickson broke his right wrist in Sunday's win over the Browns, according to ESPN's Ben Baby. He finished the game before revealing his injury to the training staff. HC Zac Taylor said Monday that he's not yet ready to put Hendrickson on IR. We'll see whether the pass-rusher can play with the wrist casted. It seems wise to bet on Hendrickson missing at least Week 15, though. Baby says Joseph Ossai would likely start in Hendrickson's absence. We've liked the upside on the 22-year-old since he arrived as a 3rd-round pick last year.
Bengals LB Logan Wilson (illness) is active for today's game against the Chiefs. Use him as planned in IDP lineups.
Bengals LB Logan Wilson is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs because of an illness. He missed Friday's practice after not showing up on the injury report the previous 2 days. The team has deemed him day-to-day. We'll see about Wilson's status Sunday.
Bengals CB Chidobe Awuzie tore his right ACL in Monday night's loss to the Browns and will miss the rest of the season. The defense might get CB Eli Apple back this week. He missed the Cleveland game with a hamstring injury that knocked him out early the week before. Apple put in a limited practice Wednesday.
Bengals LB Logan Wilson (shoulder) is ready to play Monday night against the Browns after putting in full practices all week. It's an impressive recovery from a shoulder injury that initially seemed likely to cost him multiple games. Wilson missed just 1. He's an LB3 with upside in our Week 8 IDP rankings. His return knocks LBs Germaine Pratt and Akeem Davis-Gaither down the rankings. Bengals EDGE Trey Hendrickson (neck) is also off the week's final injury report. He missed the 1st 2 days but then put in a full Friday. Cincinnati will most likely go without CB Eli Apple, who is doubtful with a hamstring injury.
Bengals EDGE Trey Hendrickson left Sunday's win over the Falcons with a neck injury. We'll watch for more on his outlook.
Bengals LB Logan Wilson injured his right shoulder in Sunday's win over the Saints. Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that there's "real concern" over the injury, which occurred to the same shoulder on which Wilson had offseason surgery. That followed a 2021 injury to the joint. We'll see about the specific diagnosis and return timeline this time. Germaine Pratt and Akeem Davis-Gaither would likely lead the corps in snaps if Wilson misses further game time.
Bengals LB Germaine Pratt is active for tonight's game. A knee injury kept him out Sunday, but he finished this short week with 2 full practices. Pratt remains a low-level IDP option. His return should bring down the playing time for Akeem Davis-Gaither, who produced in Pratt's absence in Week 3.
Bengals LB Germaine Pratt (knee) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Jets. That should mean more playing time for LB Akeem Davis-Gaither. From a 15% starting point in snap share, though, it's tough to know whether he'll climb into relevance for any beyond the deepest of leagues.
Bengals S Jessie Bates has re-joined the team to play out the season under the franchise tag, according to multiple reports. Bates skipped training camp after he and the team failed to work out a longer-term extension. (It wasn't technically a holdout, because he wasn't under contract.) Returning now still gives him a little more than 2 weeks to be ready for the regular-season opener. We haven't moved Bates down our IDP rankings at all through his absence. We'll watch to make sure he's on track for a full start to the year.
