Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Bengals QB Joe Burrow completed 23 of 32 passes for 209 yards and 1 TD in Sunday’s win over Baltimore. He leaned heavily on Ja’Marr Chase, who finished with 9-84-1 on a 37.5% target share. Burrow added a 1-yard TD on a sneak. Next up is a must-see matchup at Buffalo (Sunday, 3PM ET). The Bills exited the regular season sitting 2nd toughest vs. enemy QBs.
The NFL announced that the Bills-Bengals game will not be rescheduled. It's officially a no-contest and players do not receive any stats for the game. Commissioner Roger Goodell is also recommending that the AFC Championship Game be played at a neutral site if the Bills or Bengals make it there as the road team. All 32 teams will vote on that proposal on Friday.
Update: The NFL owners have approved these changes to the playoff setup.
The NFL announced Tuesday that it won't resume the Bills-Bengals game -- halted by S Damar Hamlin's collapse -- this week. The league added that it will keep the Week 18 schedule intact and that no decision has yet been made on how to treat Monday night's game going forward. That means fantasy football leagues and contest providers will either have to wait for further word on the resumption of that contest or figure out alternate solutions. We'll certainly be watching for updates on that front -- as well as, of course, any updates on Hamlin's condition.
Bengals QB Joe Burrow went 40-of-52 passing for 375 yards and 3 TDs (plus 2 INTs) in Saturday's win over the Patriots. Cincinnati dropped back on 65.5% of offensive plays despite jumping to a big early lead, facing a defense that has played the run tough. Burrow's scores went to WR Trenton Irwin (2) and WR Tee Higgins, who led the team with 128 yards on 8 catches. WR Ja'Marr Chase matched Higgins forr the reception lead, going for 79 yards. Cincinnati hosts the Bills in Week 17.
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase logged 7 catches on 13 targets for 60 yards, leading all Bengals receivers in those categories in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. Chase also found the end zone in Week 15, in addition to teammates Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins, and TE Mitchell Wilcox. Both Boyd and Higgins wound up with 5 catches apiece. While no one besides Chase cracked the 50-yard mark (Boyd with 35 yards, Higgins with 33), fantasy managers who rolled out these Bengals WRs had their days saved by TDs. Next week brings a tough matchup against the Patriots, who rank 7th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to WRs. Still consider Chase a top-5 option, but Higgins is more of a low-end WR2, and Boyd a flex candidate in Week 16.
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase had an understandably busy day in Sunday's win over the Browns, with Tyler Boyd leaving early and Tee Higgins limited by an injury he suffered in pregame warmups. Chase claimed 45.5% of Bengals targets (15), 55.6% of receptions (10) and 49.8% of receiving yards (119). Chase also snagged 1 of QB Joe Burrow's 2 TD throws. The other went to WR Trenton Irwin, on a 45-yard flea flicker. Cincinnati visits the Buccaneers in Week 15.
Bengals TE Hayden Hurst (calf) did not practice on Wednesday. HC Zac Taylor admitted on Monday that Hurst is "doubtful" to play vs. the Browns this weekend. That'll leave Mitchell Wilcox as Cincinnati's lead TE -- and mean more targets for WRs Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd.
Bengals TE Hayden Hurst (calf) is "doubtful" to play vs. the Browns this weekend, HC Zac Taylor said Monday. We'll look for further details on Hurst's injury and how long he'll be out. TE Mitchell Wilcox replaced Hurst as Cincinnati's lead TE against the Chiefs but drew just 1 target. Hurst's absence just figures to mean more targets for WRs Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd.
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase returned from 4 games off for a hip injury to lead the Bengals in targets (8), receptions (7) and receiving yards (97) in Sunday's win over the Chiefs. Chase now gets his 1st matchup this year with a Browns team that limited him to 6-49 receiving among 13 targets in their lone full meeting last year. (Chase played just 9 snaps in the regular-season finale, when Cincinnati benched most starters after clinching.)
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Chiefs. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. We haven’t heard anything about Chase’s role today. There’s certainly a chance that he’s on some type of snap count in his 1st action since Week 7, but Chase would still carry plenty of upside even then. You’d need to be loaded at WR to consider benching him in this matchup.
ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirm that Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (hip) is expected to play vs. the Chiefs today. Chase carries more risk than usual in his 1st game back from the hip injury, but he'd be tough to sit in a likely shootout. See exactly where Chase sits in the Week 13 WR Rankings.
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (hip) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Chiefs. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday, and is “on track” to return for this one, HC Zac Taylor said Friday. Chase can be penciled back into Week 13 fantasy lineups. Chiefs-Bengals doesn’t kick off until 4:25 pm ET, but we should get an update on his status on Sunday morning.
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (hip) remained limited in Thursday's practice. He's fully expected to return for this weekend's game vs. the Chiefs, but we'll see how he's listed on the final injury report tomorrow.
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (hip) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He confirmed afterward that he's planning to play vs. the Chiefs this weekend. "We're going to see how I feel later in the week, but I'm expecting to take some reps," Chase said. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his status, but Chase can be penciled into Week 13 fantasy lineups.
We'll watch the status of Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase throughout this week, but it sure sounds like he's ready to get back to a full-time role. "I don't have no pain," he told reporters Wednesday, according to ESPN's Ben Baby. We'll take this as good news rather than a subtle linguistic clue that Chase does have some pain. Expect to start Chase in your fantasy football lineups against the Chiefs' rookie perimeter CBs this weekend.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (hip) is expected to return for Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs. Chase got in 3 limited practices last week and seemed at least close to playing against the Titans. We'll keep an eye on his status this week, but he can be penciled into Week 13 fantasy lineups.
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (hip) is officially inactive for today’s game vs. the Titans. He got in 3 limited practices this week and seems to be trending toward a Week 13 return.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase (hip) is not expected to play vs. the Titans today. He's seemingly making good progress with his rehab and should tentatively be expected back for Week 13. His absence today boosts the target projections for WRs Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd.
