Justin Fields Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) is inactive for tonight’s game vs. the Panthers. He remained limited in practice all week. We’ll see if he can make it back for the Week 11 meeting with the Lions. QB Tyson Bagent makes his fourth straight start tonight. He’s finished QB20, QB23, and QB7 the past three weeks.

Bears QB Justin Fields is doubtful for Thursday night's game against the Panthers with his right thumb injury. He continued limited practice participation this week after returning to that level last Friday. We'll see whether he can take the next step and return to game action in Week 11. QB Tyson Bagent will get his fourth straight start against Carolina. His presence has meant shorter passing than what the Bears have done with Fields this year. But the rookie has also completed passes at a higher rate (67.3% vs. 61.7%). The switch has lowered the fantasy ceiling for WR D.J. Moore and produced a lower passing-TD rate. But it otherwise doesn't seem to be negatively impacting the Chicago passing game.

Bears QB Tyson Bagent completed 18 of 30 passes for 220 yards with 2 TDs and 3 INTs in Week 9’s loss vs. the Saints. The rookie also contributed 70 rushing yards in the contest, elevating his fantasy contributions significantly despite the turnovers. Still, this is potentially the last time we’ll see Bagent under center. The Bears’ game in Week 10 vs. the Panthers is on Thursday night. QB Justin Fields (right thumb) was able to upgrade to limited practice participation headed into this weekend and seemingly has a chance to be ready to return to play. Though the Panthers rank as the fifth-toughest scoring matchup for QBs on the season per our adjusted fantasy points allowed. Fields is one of only four QBs to average 35+ rushing yards per game and had really hit his stride in Week 4-5 before getting hurt. It’ll be important to follow the practice reports in the next few days to track his progress.

Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Saints. He returned a limited practice on Friday and reportedly has a chance to start Thursday night’s game against the Panthers. QB Tyson Bagent gets another start today.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo says the Bears are "hopeful" QB Justin Fields (thumb) can start Thursday night's game vs. the Panthers. Fields returned to a limited practice on Friday. He "still has issues" with that hand, Garafolo adds, "so he's gonna have to make some progress in a short period of time to be ready for Carolina." We'll track Fields' progress this coming week. QB Tyson Bagent gets another start vs. the Saints today.

Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) is listed as doubtful for this weekend’s game vs. the Saints. He returned a limited practice on Friday. QB Tyson Bagent will start in New Orleans, but this sets Fields up to potentially return for Week 10’s game against the Vikings.

Bears HC Matt Eberflus said in a Monday radio appearance that QB Tyson Bagent will start this weekend's game vs. the Saints. QB Justin Fields remains "week-to-week" with his thumb injury, Eberflus said. The fact that Fields is being ruled out on a Monday doesn't bode particularly well for his chances of returning in Week 10. We'll continue to track his recovery.

Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) has a chance to practice next week, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. How that goes figures to impact whether Fields is able to play vs. the Saints. We'll continue to keep you updated on his progress.

Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) is out for Sunday night’s game vs. the Chargers. He remained sidelined in practice all week. QB Tyson Bagent gets another start this weekend. He completed 72% of his passes in the Week 7 win over the Raiders but averaged just 5.6 yards per attempt on a laughably low 2.1 air yards per attempt.

Bears HC Matt Eberflus said Monday that QB Justin Fields is doubtful for Sunday night's game against the Chargers because of his right thumb injury. That would mean a second straight start for undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent. The backup performed solidly in the win over the Raiders. But it's also worth noting that Chicago catered the game plan to him. Bagent's 2.1 air yards per attempt in that game marks the shortest average depth for any qualifying QB game this season, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. That's obviously not a knock on the player or the game plan. Just a reminder to keep your expectations in check for Bagent's stat line in Week 8.

NFL Network reports that Bears QB Justin Fields' thumb injury is "considered to be a two-to-three week injury -- though one source said Fields already is regaining grip strength and shouldn't be entirely ruled out for next week against the Chargers." The Bears did not place Fields on IR, which means that they expect him back before Week 11. It sounds like Week 9 or 10 is his most likely return date. We'll keep you updated on his progress.

Bears HC Matt Eberflus said Friday that the team doesn't plan on putting QB Justin Fields (thumb) on IR. Eberflus labeled Fields "week-to-week," but no IR means that the team expects him back before Week 11. We'll continue to keep you updated on Fields' recovery. He remains worth stashing in most fantasy leagues.

Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders. He didn’t practice all week and, although Fields won’t have surgery, he isn’t a great bet to make it back for Week 8. Undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent makes his first career start this weekend. He’s not a viable fantasy play and makes WR D.J. Moore and TE Cole Kmet much riskier starts.

Bears QB Justin Fields is not planning to have surgery on his injured thumb, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "The key to when he can get back on the field is when he's able to grip the football," Rapoport adds. Surgery would have had Fields out for an extended period of time, so this is good news, even if we don't have a firm timetable for Fields' return. He's worth keeping stashed in most fantasy leagues.

Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) did not practice on Wednesday. The team has basically already ruled him out for Sunday's game vs. the Raiders, which leaves undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent as Chicago's likely starter.

Bears HC Matt Eberflus labeled QB Justin Fields doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders with his dislocated thumb. Fields’ status beyond Week 7 is “really going to come down to grip strength,” Eberflus added. We’ll look for a more concrete timeline for Fields’ return. He’s worth hanging on to in most fantasy leagues for the time being. Undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent figures to make his first career start this weekend. He had a solid preseason but looked overmatched against the Vikings on Sunday, averaging 5.9 yards per pass attempt with an INT and a lost fumble. Chicago skill-position players will be tough to trust in fantasy lineups with Bagent under center.
