Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney injured a hamstring in the 1st half of Sunday night's game vs. the Chargers and is officially questionable to return. He failed to catch his lone target before exiting. Stay tuned for an update.
Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion) is out for Sunday night's game vs. the Chargers. No surprise after he sustained his 4th documented concussion last week. We'll see if Smith-Schuster can get cleared for Week 12. With WR Mecole Hardman (abdomen, illness) on IR, Kansas City is down to WRs Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Justin Watson and Skyy Moore. See where they sit in the Week 11 WR Rankings.
The Chiefs placed WR Mecole Hardman (abdomen) on IR. We still don't have any details on his injury, but he's out at least the next 4 games. Hardman is droppable in most fantasy leagues. His absence opens up opportunity for WR Kadarius Toney -- although it's worth noting that WR Justin Watson ran more routes than Toney last week. Toney should be owned in all fantasy leagues at this point, but Watson is also worth stashing in deeper setups.
Chiefs WRs JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (illness) and Mecole Hardman (abdomen, illness) missed Wednesday's practice. Valdes-Scantling should be fine for Sunday night's game vs. the Chargers, but Smith-Schuster and Hardman are iffy. Their absences would likely mean a significant role for WR Kadarius Toney.
Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney emerged from Week 10 with 4 catches, 90 total yards and 1 score. Toney was left wide open on his TD. But it’s the stuff beyond the box score that should have fantasy owners excited. He showed off his wild athleticism with a catch-and-run opportunity and even went up high for a contested catch. Toney’s role got a boost following JuJu Smith-Schuster’s 1st half concussion. Mecole Hardman sat out Sunday’s game, too. We'll see on their status going forward, but at a minimum, Toney should be owned in just about all formats.
Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman (abdomen) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars. He's operated as Kansas City's #3 WR all year, averaging 4.3 targets per game (10% share). Hardman's absence leaves WRs Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore and Justin Watson behind JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. We're expecting a committee to replace Hardman, leaving Toney, Moore and Watson as low-floor fantasy plays. But Toney is our preference if choosing between them. Hardman has played 49% of his snaps in the slot this season. Toney was in the slot for 4 of his 9 snaps last week. Moore has played 39% of his snaps in the slot this season; Watson 40%.
Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman (abdomen) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. HC Andy Reid described Hardman's issue as "soreness," but it certainly seems like he's in danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Jaguars. His absence would leave #3 WR duties to some combination of Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore and Justin Watson.
Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney is officially active for tonight’s game vs. the Titans. We’ll see exactly how big a role he plays after joining Kansas City 10 days ago. Toney is a fun play in 1-game DFS contests but would be a flier in season-long fantasy lineups.
Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney is not listed on this week’s injury report and is expected to play vs. the Titans on Sunday night. We’ll see how big a role he assumes after joining the team a little over a week ago. Toney would be a flier in Week 9 fantasy lineups.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid said Wednesday that WR Kadarius Toney is "healthy now." He's been sidelined since Week 2 with alleged hamstring injuries that are evidently better now that he's been traded to Kansas City. It sounds like Toney will be available for Sunday night's game against the Titans. It's entirely unclear how big of a role he'll play, so we'd keep him on fantasy benches for Week 9. But Toney remains a high-upside stash.
The Chiefs acquired WR Kadarius Toney from the Giants in exchange for a 2023 3rd-round compensatory pick and a 2023 6th-round pick. Injuries have limited Toney to just 12 games over his first 1-and-a-half NFL seasons, including only 2 this year. But he's flashed exciting route-running and after-the-catch ability when on the field. This is about the best-case scenario for his fantasy value, which seemed almost non-existent in New York. We'll see when Toney is able to get on the field after missing the past 5 weeks with hamstring trouble -- and then how he fits in alongside WRs JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Mecole Hardman. But if he can find playing time with QB Patrick Mahomes, Toney could quickly emerge as a fantasy factor. He's worth grabbing now in leagues where he was dropped.
Giants HC Brian Daboll told reporters Wednesday that WRs Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and Kenny Golladay (knee) still aren't ready to practice, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic. We'll see when/if their statuses change. EDGE Oshane Ximines (quad) also will miss Wednesday's practice.
Giants WRs Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and Kenny Golladay (knee) are out for Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars. What else is new? Darius Slayton (26 routes), Marcus Johnson (26), Richie James (13) and Wan'Dale Robinson (12) operated as New York's top 4 WRs last week. Robinson is the only potential fantasy option -- and he's a risky play until we see his route rate climb.
Giants WRs Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and Kenny Golladay (knee) sat out practice Wednesday. Golladay has missed the past 2 games with his knee sprain, while Toney has lost 4 straight to hamstring issues. We'll see when -- or whether -- either guy factors back into this offense.
