Add a league for Mock Drafting, Draft War Room & In-season sync
Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes that the Chiefs "will be allocating a heavy workload for [WR Rashee Rice] as soon as possible." A team source told Fowler that Rice will be "full bore" in practice this week. Rice "has been in the building for weeks, had an excellent training camp and is in peak physical shape," Fowler adds. That's a much more optimistic outlook than we got from HC Andy Reid earlier this week. We'll ultimately be guessing at Rice's Week 7 workload until the Chiefs take the field vs. the Raiders. But Rice's upside means he belongs in almost all fantasy lineups.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler hears that the Rams consider WR Puka Nacua (ankle) "a long shot" to play vs. the Jaguars this weekend. Fowler adds that Nacua "avoided major damage to his ankle." He gets a well-timed Week 8 bye and seemingly has a chance to make it back for Week 9. But fantasy managers should not plan on having Nacua in Week 7 lineups.
Bills WR Josh Palmer is "week-to-week" with the knee injury that knocked him out of Monday night's loss to the Falcons, HC Sean McDermott said. Palmer gets a Week 7 bye, but it sounds like he could miss time beyond that. He's drawn just 11.1% of Buffalo's targets so far this season, so his absence would be just a slight upgrade for the team's other pass catchers.
Bears HC Ben Johnson said WR D.J. Moore is "day-to-day" with a groin injury. He was hospitalized after Monday night's win over the Commanders, and we still don't have any further details on the injury. “I think we got some good news in that regard," Johnson said. "I think he’ll be day-to-day going forward. It was a groin deal that he was dealing with, but I think we’re going to be ok.” We'll look for more updates on Moore and watch his practice participation this week. It at least sounds like he has a chance to play vs. the Saints on Sunday.
Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is set to make his 2025 debut vs. the Raiders this weekend. He missed the first six games of the season on suspension and will also be playing in his first game since last year's season-ending knee injury. HC Andy Reid was non-committal when asked Monday how much Rice will play against Vegas.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that it's "looking good" for WR CeeDee Lamb -- as well as WR KaVontae Turpin and G Tyler Booker -- to return for this weekend's game vs. the Commanders. We'll keep a close eye on Lamb's status throughout this week, and he'll carry some elevated risk in his first game back from a high-ankle sprain. But he'd be virtually impossible to keep out of fantasy lineups. Lamb checks in 4th in our initial Week 7 WR rankings.
TE Zach Ertz led the Commanders in targets (six) and receptions (6) for Monday night's loss to the Bears. He tallied 43 yards and scored a 6-yard TD early in the fourth quarter. Ertz's 30 routes ranked second on the team, trailing WR Deebo Samuel by just one and constituting an 83.3% rate among Jayden Daniels' 36 dropbacks. The usage marked a rebound for Ertz.
Commanders WR Deebo Samuel managed just 4 receptions for 15 yards in Monday night's loss to the Bears. That's not a surprising development after he managed just one limited practice on an injured heel and entered the game questionable. But it's worth noting that he played near his normal amount. The 72.3% snap share marked his second-lowest of the season but one of three games he's had in the 70s. Samuel's five targets tied for second on the team, trailing only TE Zach Ertz. Chris Moore (3-46-1 receiving) and Luke McCaffrey (1-33-1) joined Ertz in snagging TDs from Jayden Daniels.
Commanders RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt didn't help your fantasy team in Week 6 nearly as much as he did the week before. He managed just 61 yards on 17 carries against what's been a weak Bears fun defense. But those 17 carries marked a second straight season high, and the rookie increased his season high for playing time by a significant margin. RB Chris Rodriguez played just a single snap, while RB Jeremy McNichols played less than half as many snaps as JCM and even trailed the starter in pass routes.
WR Luther Burden led the Bears with 4 receptions in Monday night's win over the Commanders. He caught all four of his targets for 51 yards, led by a 37-yard deep ball. WR Olamide Zaccheaus led the team with six targets in a contest that found QB Caleb Williams spreading around his 29 pass attempts. Rome Odunze and D.J. Moore tied for second with five targets. Two other Bears followed Burden with three targets apiece. Despite the reception lead, however, the rookie saw no role growth coming out of the bye.
Bears RB D'Andre Swift racked up 108 yards on 14 carries in Monday night's win over the Commanders. Washington's defense entered the night fifth-best in rush DVOA and adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs, which made Swift's 7.7 yards per carry especially notable. Rookie Kyle Monangai followed with a 5-19 rushing line, while Roschon Johnson claimed the other RB carry (for 6 yards). QB Caleb Williams produced the team's only rushing score, from a yard out. Swift added a 55-yard receiving TD to drive a 2-67-1 receiving line on three targets.
Bears WR D.J. Moore left the stadium in an ambulance after Monday night's win over the Commanders and spent the night in a local hospital instead of on the team flight home. The Bears have so far only called it "precautionary medical attention." HC Ben Johnson is expected to give an update on the situation today.
The league is suspending Lions S Brian Branch one game for his shot to Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster at the end of Sunday night's loss to Kansas City. Branch is reportedly appealing the punishment. We should get word on that decision ahead of Monday's game against the Bucs. You should expect to not have Branch in your Week 7 IDP lineup.
The Jaguars have already ruled LB Devin Lloyd out for Sunday's game against the Rams in London, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He's dealing with a calf injury and won't even travel with the team. Ventrell Miller looks like the fill-in.
Jets WR Garrett Wilson has been diagnosed with a hyperextended knee and is expected to miss “a couple of weeks," a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter. So fantasy owners should plan on Wilson missing the next two games vs. the Panthers and Bengals. The Jets then get a Week 9 bye, and Wilson should be back for Week 10.
Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez (calf) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Bears. He didn’t practice at all this week, so it’s safe to assume he won’t be at 100% for this one. We’re fully expecting rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt to control backfield work tonight.
Commanders WR Deebo Samuel (heel) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Bears. He only got in a limited practice on Friday this week and was listed as questionable on the final injury report. We haven’t heard anything about him being on a snap count tonight, though, so get Samuel in fantasy lineups if you were waiting on him.
Bears K Cairo Santos is inactive for tonight’s game vs. the Commanders. He’ll be replaced by K Jake Moody, who was dumped by San Francisco after missing two FGs in the season opener. Moody made just 71% of his FG tries last year.
Bears TE Colston Loveland (hip) is active for tonight's game vs. the Commanders. We’re curious to see what kind of role he plays coming off the bye week. Loveland can’t be trusted in season-long lineups yet but could be a fun flier in daily lineups.
Bills TE Dalton Kincaid (oblique) is inactive for tonight's game vs. the Falcons. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable. Kincaid's absence should mean a boost in routes for TE Dawson Knox, who is a viable option if you need to replace Kincaid in fantasy lineups.
