Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
ESPN's Dan Graziano hears that Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) is "highly unlikely" to play vs. the Chiefs later today. "They haven’t officially ruled him out yet," Graziano adds. But
"something would have to change last minute." We won't get Cincinnati's inactives until 3 pm ET, but Mixon should be on fantasy benches right now. Samaje Perine is a fantasy RB1 if Mixon is out.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon still hadn't cleared concussion protocol as of late Saturday night and is a "long shot" to play vs. the Chiefs today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. ESPN's Adam Schefter isn't quite as pessimistic on Mixon's chances but confirms that he's still in the protocol. There's evidently a chance that he's cleared this morning, but fantasy owners should plan on being without him for now. Mixon's absence would again leave RB Samaje Perine in a feature role. He racked up 17 carries and 7 targets last week. Check out the updated projections for Cincinnati's backfield.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Chiefs. He was limited in practice all week. HC Zac Taylor confirmed on Friday morning that Mixon is still in concussion protocol and said that the team is “taking it on a 12-hour by 12-hour basis.” We’ll see if Mixon is able to clear concussion protocol by Sunday. If not, Samaje Perine will again operate as Cincinnati's workhorse.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) was limited again in Thursday's practice. It means that he still hasn't fully cleared the protocol. We're still tentatively expecting Mixon to play vs. the Chiefs this weekend, but we'll continue to keep you updated on his progress.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. He still has some work to do to clear the protocol, but Mixon is trending toward returning for this weekend's game vs. the Chiefs. We'll get another update on his progress on Thursday afternoon.
Bengals HC Zac Taylor said RB Joe Mixon would be practicing with the team today, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe. Completing a practice is reportedly the final step for Mixon to get through the league concussion protocol, which would return him for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. We'll keep watching to confirm his status, but expect to have Mixon back in fantasy football lineups this week.
ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) is "trending in the right direction" for Week 13. HC Zac Taylor said Monday that Mixon remains in the concussion protocol, but fantasy owners can tentatively expect him to be cleared in time to play vs. the Chiefs on Sunday. We'll keep you updated on his progress throughout the week.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Titans. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 13. His absence leaves Samaje Perine as Cincinnati's lead back, although the matchup against Tennessee's 5th-ranked RB defense makes him as more of a low-end RB2 in fantasy lineups. Chris Evans is set to return from his knee injury and should operate as the #2 RB on Sunday.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) did not practice on Thursday. He's now a big long shot to be cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the Titans. Look for Samaje Perine to operate as Cincinnati's lead back in that one.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon remains in concussion protocol, HC Zac Taylor said Wednesday. Mixon still has an outside chance to be cleared for this weekend's game vs. the Titans, but fantasy owners should be planning on being without him for Week 12 for now. If Mixon sits, Samaje Perine will be a volume-based, lower-end RB2 in a tough matchup.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon has been ruled out of Sunday's game vs. the Steelers with a concussion. It's his 2nd documented concussion, with the 1st coming back in 2017. We'll track Mixon's progress through the protocol this coming week. His absence leaves Samaje Perine as Cincinnati's top RB.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon left in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Steelers to get checked for a concussion. We'll update his status when we know more.
Update: Mixon has been ruled out for the game with a concussion.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon scored a ridiculous 55.1 PPR points in a Week 9 win over Carolina. He had 171 total yards and 4 scores…at halftime. He finished with 5 scores, providing one of the highest-scoring fantasy performances of all-time. A plus matchup helped, and it came at a time in which Mixon appeared to be hitting a wall. He’ll look to stay hot against Pittsburgh following a Week 10 bye.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon posted 14 carries for 78 yards in Sunday’s loss at Baltimore. He finally found some room to run, leading to a season-best 5.5 YPC. His passing-game contributions remained minor, though. With 3 catches for 10 yards, he’s now been held under 15 receiving yards in 3 straight. Backup Samaje Perine beat Mixon in targets (4-3), although Perine did trail Mixon in routes run (12-20). Despite a league-high 15 carries inside the 10, Mixon remains stuck on 1 total score. Week 6 turns up a road matchup with New Orleans.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon racked up 24 carries and 4 targets in Thursday night's win over the Dolphins. All that work resulted in 74 yards and 1 TD. That's a fine fantasy outing -- but we're expecting more on that massive volume. Mixon had very little room to run behind a still-in-progress offensive line. And on the few occasions when he found some space, he failed to make defenders miss. Mixon is now averaging just 2.7 yards per carry and 4.8 yards per target through 4 games. By comparison, he averaged 4.1 yards per carry and 6.5 yards per target last year. Expect his efficiency marks to start creeping toward those 2021 numbers going forward, making Mixon a nice trade target right now.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) put in full practices on Tuesday and Wednesday and isn't listed on the final Week 4 injury report. He should be ready for his usual role in Thursday night's game vs. the Dolphins.
Bengals HC Zac Taylor said Monday that RB Joe Mixon "nicked up" his ankle in the win over the Jets but "will be good to go" for Thursday night's game vs. the Dolphins. We'll keep an eye on Mixon's practice participation over the next couple of days, but he can be penciled into Week 4 fantasy lineups for now.
Bengals RB Joe Mixon was fed 27 carries and 9 targets in Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh. He turned the heavy workload into 145 total yards and 7 catches, the latter mark matching a career high. Sure, Joe Burrow tossed 53 passes in a game that lasted all 70 minutes. But it was still encouraging to see Mixon deliver as a pass-catcher following spotty production there last season. His 9 targets accounted for 17% of Burrow's total pass attempts, a rate in line with Mixon's increased passing game usage through last year's playoffs. Samaje Perine mixed in for only 1 carry and 3 catches (5 targets). Look for Mixon to remain busy this week at Dallas — especially if Tee Higgins (concussion) is sidelined.
The Athletic's Paul Dehner believes the Bengals are no longer interested in making RB Joe Mixon a 3-down back. Dehner notes that Mixon's usage on 3rd downs fell off precipitously late in the season and through the playoffs. Over his final 9 games, Mixon played just 17 3rd-down snaps compared to RB Samaje Perine's 83. But, Mixon averaged 4.3 targets over those 9 games vs. just 2.7 over his first 11. Losing 3rd-down snaps obviously isn't ideal and will probably keep Mixon from joining the top tier of fantasy RBs. But he's still capable of RB1 production as the clear lead back in a strong Bengals offense.
