Kalif Raymond Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Lions will place WR Kalif Raymond (foot) on IR, knocking him out for at least the next four games, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Raymond has run a route on just 36% of Detroit's pass plays this season and averaged 1.9 targets per game, so there's minimal fantasy impact here. We'll likely see WR Tim Patrick play more snaps with Raymond out, but he remains off the redraft radar.

The league has suspended Lions WR Jameson Williams two games for violating the performance-enhancing substances policy, according to ESPN's Eric Woodyard.

WR Kalif Raymond emerged as the surprise target leader in the Lions' beatdown of Dallas in Week 6. His 6 targets edged RB Jahmyr Gibbs by one and put Raymond two ahead of any other teammate. He caught four of them for 73 yards, doubling his reception total for the season.

Lions WR Jameson Williams (ankle, illness) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Vikings. We’ll see if he can make it back for next week’s Wild Card game. Williams’ absence will free up some snaps for WRs Josh Reynolds, Kalif Raymond, and Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Panthers. He didn't practice all week and was listed as doubtful, so he wasn’t particularly close to playing. We’ll see if he can make it back for Week 6. St. Brown’s absence leaves 26.7% of Detroit’s targets up for grabs. Josh Reynolds is the best bet to lead Lions WRs in targets today, with Kalif Raymond, Jameson Williams, and Marvin Jones behind him. TE Sam LaPorta should also benefit from St. Brown’s absence. But we’re expecting a run-heavy attack from the Lions today against a leaky Panthers run defense.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. He didn't practice all week and obviously needs to be on fantasy benches. His absence would leave Detroit's WR corps to Josh Reynolds, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, and Marvin Jones. Reynolds (groin) and Williams (not injury related) are listed as questionable for Week 5 but should play after getting in full practices on Friday. St. Brown's absence figures to mean an even more run-heavy game plan for Detroit -- and potentially a target boost for TE Sam LaPorta.

Lions writer Jeff Risdon doesn’t believe WR Marvin Jones is a roster “lock.” Behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, Risdon names Kalif Raymond and Josh Reynolds as safe bets to make the team. Jones, 33, signed a one-year deal worth $3 million (all guaranteed) in March. We expect him to make the final roster, but he’s not someone we’re circling on cheat sheets as a late-round pick. Jones underwhelmed with 46-529-3 in 16 games with Jacksonville last season.

Lions WR Jameson Williams is one of five players to be suspended for violating the NFL's gambling policy. Williams, along with Lions WR Stanley Berryhill, have been suspended six games. Lions WR Quintez Cephus, Lions S C.J. Moore, and Commanders DE Shaka Toney are suspended indefinitely. We'll see if Williams appeals this ruling, but fantasy drafters should work under the assumption that he'll miss the first six games of the 2023 season. Williams, of course, appeared in just six games as a rookie last year after tearing an ACL in January of 2022. This suspension will make him tough to roster in standard redraft fantasy leagues and just a late-round option in best ball. Williams' absence leaves Amon-Ra St. Brown, Marvin Jones, Josh Reynolds, and Kalif Raymond as Detroit's top 4 WRs. Jones and Reynolds pick up a bit more fantasy appeal with this news.

Update: The Lions released WR Quintez Cephus and S C.J. Moore.

The Lions signed WR Marvin Jones to a 1-year, $3 million deal. It's a reunion after Jones spent 2016-2020 in Detroit. He averaged 859 yards and 7.2 TDs across those 5 seasons but is coming off a disappointing 46-529-3 line in Jacksonville this past year. Jones ranked 79th in yards per route run and 87th in Pro Football Focus receiving grade among 96 qualifying WRs. The 33-year-old will duke it out with Josh Reynolds and Kalif Raymond for snaps behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams in Detroit. Jones might provide a few spike weeks for best-ball squads if he wins the #3 WR job. But he's unlikely to be a reliable option in lineup-setting fantasy leagues.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown racked up 122 yards and a TD on 9 catches to dominate Detroit receiving in the narrow loss to the Bills. WR Kalif Raymond and RB D'Andre Swift tied for 2nd on the team with 4 catches apiece. No other Detroit player exceeded 35 receiving yards. WR D.J. Chark caught the team's other TD pass, tallying 2 receptions for 16 yards in all.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown racked up 10 catches and 119 yards in Sunday's win over the Bears, on a team-high 11 targets. Detroit's lead receiver drew 42.3% of QB Jared Goff's pass attempts, claimed 52.6% of the team's completions and delivered 50.4% of the receiving yards. WR Kalif Raymond (3) and RB Justin Jackson (2) were the only other Lions to catch multiple passes. Goff finished 19 of 26 for 236 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs. St. Brown added 1 carry for 2 yards.

Lions WR Josh Reynolds (back) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bears. Kalif Raymond and Tom Kennedy will again serve as Detroit’s #2 and #3 WRs.

Lions WR Josh Reynolds (back) did not practice on Wednesday. His absence this weekend would again leave Kalif Raymond as Detroit's #2 WR vs. the Bears.

Lions QB Jared Goff threw for just 137 yards in Sunday's win over the Packers. He went 14-of-26 passing for the day, with 2 TDs and 1 INT. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown garnered 34.6% of the team's targets (9), catching 4 for 55 yards. RB D'Andre Swift and WR Tom Kennedy tied for 2nd on the team with 4 targets apiece. WR Kalif Raymond caught all 3 of his targets for 17 yards.

Lions WR Josh Reynolds (back) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Packers. It’ll be WRs Kalif Raymond and Tom Kennedy behind Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Lions WR Josh Reynolds (back) is listed as doubtful for this weekend’s game vs. the Packers after missing practice on Thursday and Friday. With WR D.J. Chark (ankle) on IR, Detroit is down to WRs Kalif Raymond and Tom Kennedy behind Amon-Ra St. Brown.

With Amon-Ra St. Brown leaving early for a concussion, Lions WR Kalif Raymond led the team in targets (6), receptions (5) and receiving yards (75) in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. TEs Brock Wright and T.J. Hockenson followed, tying at 4 catches apiece. Wright beat Hockenson 57-48 in yards. Josh Reynolds managed just 1 catch for 8 yards on 2 targets, trailing WR Tom Kennedy in each category despite leading him in playing time and routes.
