Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Browns RB Kareem Hunt will play vs. the Titans on Sunday, HC Kevin Stefanski said. “How much will be determined” by how things go during the game, he added, according to insider Mary Kay Cabot. “He’s in good shape mentally and physically." We're expecting Hunt to have just a small role behind lead back Jerome Ford, but we'll certainly be keeping a close eye on how this Nick Chubb-less backfield evolves.
The Browns are signing RB Kareem Hunt to a one-year deal worth "up to" $4 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This move seemed likely the minute RB Nick Chubb went down with his season-ending knee injury on Monday night. Hunt spent the past four seasons with the Browns, so he's familiar with HC Kevin Stefanski's offense. It's worth noting, though, that Hunt is now 28 and is coming off an inefficient 2022 season. He averaged just 3.8 yards per carry and ranked 35th among 48 qualifiers in NFL Next Gen Stats' Rush Yards Over Expected Per Attempt. We're still expecting RB Jerome Ford to get the first crack at lead duties but will keep a close eye on this backfield going forward. Both Ford and Hunt are worth rostering in all fantasy leagues.
Multiple reports Tuesday afternoon said RB Kareem Hunt is visiting the Browns. It makes sense, given that Hunt spent the past four seasons in Cleveland and the team just lost Nick Chubb for the year. The Browns elected to move on from Hunt to Jerome Ford last offseason, though, after Hunt produced dramatic declines in efficiency -- both rushing and receiving. He'd make plenty of sense as Cleveland's No. 2 back. But expect Ford to continue leading the backfield in work. We'll watch, of course, to see if this reunion actually happens.
Browns HC Kevin Stefanski called Jerome Ford the team's "featured back" with Nick Chubb out for the rest of the season, according to insider Mary Kay Cabot. We'll see exactly what that means for Ford's snap rate and volume, but it's clear that he'll get the first crack at lead duties. He got off to a strong start in relief of Chubb on Monday night, ripping off 106 yards on 16 carries and catching three of four targets for 25 yards and a score. Kareem Hunt and Cam Akers are among the RBs the Browns are considering adding to the backfield, Cabot reports.
RB Kareem Hunt did not sign with the Saints on Tuesday, despite reports that he was expected to. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Hunt had a "great" visit in New Orleans but will now head to Indianapolis for a Wednesday meeting. The Colts recently added RB Kenyan Drake but remain without RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle/contract) and RB Zack Moss (wrist injury). We'll keep watching Hunt's travels. And Saints rookie RB Kendre Miller will certainly be interested in whether Hunt comes back to town.
Update: ESPN's Dianna Russini reports that Indy called Hunt and offered him more money before he even started working out with the Saints.
The Saints are expected to sign RB Kareem Hunt, pending a physical, ESPN's Dianna Russini reports. That will further crowd a New Orleans backfield that also includes Alvin Kamara, Jamaal Williams, and rookie Kendre Miller. Kamara, of course, is suspended for the first three games, giving the other guys a shot at useable fantasy value at the start of the season. But we'll see what happens when Kamara returns. It seems unlikely that all four RBs would even be active on game days. Hunt is coming off a disappointing 2022 season that saw him finish with career lows in yards per carry (3.8), yards per catch (6.0), and Pro Football Focus rushing grade.
Browns RB Kareem Hunt (shoulder) logged full practice all week and carries no injury designation ahead of Week 17 vs. the Commanders. The veteran back has only tallied more than 10+ touches in 3 of the last 7 games. With minimal volume, it's tough to consider Hunt as anything but a desperation flex play. The Commanders' defense ranking as the 3rd-toughest matchup for opposing RBs in adjusted fantasy points allowed in 2022 doesn't help his case much either. There are likely better fantasy options than Hunt to choose from in the fantasy championship round.
Browns RB Kareem Hunt (shoulder) practiced fully again on Thursday. He should be in line to suit up in Week 17 vs. the Commanders. Hunt is nothing more than a deep-league flex option against a Commanders defense that ranks as the 3rd-toughest matchup in adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs.
Browns RB Kareem Hunt (shoulder) was listed as a full participant in practice on Wednesday. We'll keep you in the loop if anything changes that could affect his status for Week 17 vs. the Commanders.
The forecast for today's Saints-Browns game calls for temperatures in the single digits with sustained winds of 20-25 mph and gusts of 40+. The wind chill is well below zero. They're brutal conditions that will significantly limit the passing and kicking games. Check out our projections for all the Saints and Browns players.
Browns RB Nick Chubb (foot) was a no-go at practice for the 2nd day in a row. Tomorrow's practice report will provide the final word on Chubb's ability to suit up vs. the Saints on Saturday. If Chubb can't go in Week 16, it would be a big boost to both Kareem Hunt and potentially D'Ernest Johnson. We'll stay on top of this one. Losing a top back like Chubb in the fantasy playoffs would certainly be disappointing.
Browns RB Nick Chubb (foot) did not practice on Tuesday. The Browns' next game vs. the Saints is on Saturday. As such, Chubb’s absence from practice could merely be cautionary. We’ll still keep an eye on this as their Week 16 matchup gets closer. If Chubb were unable to suit up, Kareem Hunt would likely elevate on the depth chart and shoulder a good amount of responsibility against a Saints defense that ranks 13th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs. Stay tuned.
Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed 21 times for 99 yards in Saturday's win over the Ravens. He claimed 84% of Cleveland RB carries in the game but didn't find the end zone in a game that saw the Browns score just 1 TD. Kareem Hunt added 24 yards on 4 carries and caught his only target for 3 yards. Demetric Felton added the backfield's only other reception. Chubb drew 2 targets but caught neither. Week 16 holds a Saints defense that has been a neutral matchup for RB scoring, which marks an improvement over the Baltimore matchup.
Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed 14 times for 34 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. It marked the 3rd time in Cleveland's past 5 games that Chubb logged 14 carries or fewer (all losses). His 2.4 yards per rush marked just the 2nd time all year that he has fallen short of 4.0. RB Kareem Hunt added just 4-6 rushing and beat Chubb by only 1 target. Chubb caught all 3 of his looks for 20 yards. He now gets the 3rd worst remaining schedule for RB scoring.
Browns RB Nick Chubb posted a relatively disappointing 80 yards on 17 carries in Sunday's win over the Texans. It obviously wasn't a terrible day, as Chubb averaged 4.7 yards per rush. But that's 0.5 short of his season per-carry average. He also fell 1.2 attempts and 14.5 yards short of his weekly averages in those categories. That hurt fantasy football lineups that were hoping for a big score against 1 of the league's worst run defenses. Chubb also failed to reach the end zone for just the 2nd time among the past 6 games. RB Kareem Hunt added 56 yards on 9 carries (6.2 per rush) and caught 2 balls for 18 yards among 3 targets. Week 14 holds a rematch with the Bengals, who allowed Chubb a 23-101-2 rushing line back in Week 8.
Browns RB Nick Chubb delivered 116 yards and the game-winning TD on 26 carries Sunday against the Buccaneers. RB Kareem Hunt added just 15 yards on 5 carries plus a single catch for 6 yards. It was just the 2nd game with more than 16 carries for Chubb since Week 3 and his 2nd game of 100+ yards among the past 6. Next comes a high-ceiling rushing matchup with the Texans' league-worst run defense.
Browns RB Nick Chubb got loose for a 26-yard gain on a screen pass but didn't find much else in Sunday's loss to the Bills. He managed only 19 yards on 14 carries, with 48 total receiving yards on 3 receptions. Kareem Hunt led the team with 32 yards on 5 rushes (6.4 per carry). Hunt also caught his 2 targets for 22 yards. Next comes a home date with the Bucs before a visit to the league's worst run defense in Houston.
The NFL is moving Sunday's Bills-Browns game to Detroit, according to The Athletic's Tim Graham. Buffalo is expected to get pounded with 4+ feet of snow over the next few days. Moving from those conditions to a dome is obviously great news for all of the fantasy players in this game.
