Los Angeles Chargers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Chargers Edge Khalil Mack is inactive for tonight's game against the Bengals. That's no shock after he missed all practices the past two weeks and managed to play just four snaps last week. Mack's absence can only help the playing time for Tuli Tulipulotu and Bud Dupree.

Chargers Edge Khalil Mack is questionable for the second straight week thanks to a groin injury that kept him out of practice once again. Mack missed all three practices last week before playing through a "questionable" tag last week. He made it through just 4 snaps in that game. Edge Joey Bosa, meanwhile, put in his first full practice since Week 3 on Friday and is off the final injury report for the first time since that week as well. He said Friday that they plan to increase his playing time from the 19-20 snaps of the past three games to "about 30, 30-plus."

Chargers Edge Khalil Mack was active for Sunday's win over the Titans ... but only barely. He managed just 4 snaps after entering the contest questionable with a groin injury.

Chargers Edge Joey Bosa is questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Bosa returned for a limited practice Friday but sat out the previous two days with a hip injury, despite coming off a Week 5 bye. Try not to use Bosa in your IDP lineups. The Chargers also ruled out CBs Asante Samuel Jr. and Ja'Sir Taylor. That's two of the team's top three corners, including the primary slot man (Taylor).

The NFL has suspended Chargers S Derwin James one game for "repeated violations" of the safety rules. James was most recently flagged for an illegal hit in the loss to the Steelers. His seven such penalties since 2018 tie him for second-most in the NFL, but he has reached that number in fewer games than other "leaders" in the category. James appealed the suspension, but it was upheld. So he'll miss Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Elijah Molden looks likely to fill in.

Chargers Edge Joey Bosa left after the first defensive play Sunday against the Steelers. He returned later in the quarter but was gone again before the end of the quarter. The team initially called him questionable to return with a hip injury before ruling Bosa out for the game.

Chargers Edge Joey Bosa should be ready for regular duty Sunday against the Steelers. A back injury limited him to just 29% snap share in the Week 2 win over the Panthers. Bosa said earlier this week he expected to be back to full strength for Week 3, though. He got back to a full practice Friday and didn't appear on the week's final injury report. That has boosted Bosa into the top 20 of our Week 3 DL rankings.

Chargers Edge Joey Bosa (back) is active for today's game against the Panthers. He missed the week's final two practices before turning up questionable. It wouldn't be surprising if the Chargers limited Bosa's playing time vs. usual today, with Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree available to rotate in. We nudged Bosa down our Week 2 rankings on that chance. The Chargers will also have CB Ja'Sir Taylor (questionable, fibula) but will miss S Alohi Gilman (knee).

Chargers Edge Joey Bosa revealed to reporters Thursday that he broke his left hand during an Aug. 4 joint practice with the Rams and needed surgery, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim. Bosa returned to practice earlier this week for the first time since the injury, wearing a club on the repaired hand. Bosa said he won't miss any games but will sport the club for a while.

Chargers third-round rookie LB Junior Colson garnered some early buzz for his work with the starting offense in OTAs. But more recent workouts have found him working behind second-year LB Daiyan Henley ... and others. According to The Athletic's Daniel Popper, Colson has paired with Shane Lee as the third-team ILB duo at this week's minicamp. A minor injury in May OTAs might have pushed the rookie temporarily down the depth chart. But we'll have to see whether Colson can climb it through summer.

The Chargers list LB Kenneth Murray Jr. (shoulder) as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Nick Niemann started in his place last week and delivered 11 tackles (6 solo, 1 for loss). He did so on just 68% playing time, though. So be careful about overrating Niemann for Week 18 IDP use -- especially against a very different version of the Chiefs offense than we usually see. Check our Week 18 LB rankings to see where Niemann lands.

Chargers LB Kenneth Murray is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Broncos with a shoulder injury. He's officially doubtful after following a limited Wednesday workout with two missed practices. This would be Murray's first missed game of the season, which makes it tough to know exactly what the fill-in plan looks like. We wouldn't play a Chargers LB beyond Eric Kendricks if you can help it.

The Chargers have placed Edge Joey Bosa on IR for the foot injury that knocked him out of Sunday's game. That will keep Bosa out until at least Week 16, and he'll be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups in his first game back. We've already seen an active Bosa play less than 50% of the snaps in three other games before leaving Week 11 early. That all means you can go ahead and drop Bosa for another option in your redraft IDP league. The 28-year-old is probably still worth holding in dynasty ... but he's running out of value in that format as well.

Chargers HC Brandon Staley said Monday that Edge Joey Bosa is dealing with a foot sprain and will likely land on IR, according to multiple reports. That would knock Bosa out through at least Week 15. At best, Bosa would return for the penultimate week of most fantasy football seasons. And you're not likely to play him in his first game back from this injury. We've already seen Bosa play limited snaps while dealing with injuries this year. Bottom line: You should go ahead and dump Bosa for a replacement in redraft leagues this week.

Chargers Edge Joey Bosa suffered a foot injury early in Sunday's game against the Packers. He's officially questionable to return but left on a cart with a towel covering his face. That sure doesn't seem to bode well for the severity of the injury. We'll watch for more updates.

Chargers LBs Eric Kendricks (ribs) and Kenneth Murray (shoulder) are active for tonight's game against the Jets. You can use either as planned in IDP lineups.

Chargers LBs Kenneth Murray and Eric Kendricks are both questionable for tonight's game against the Jets. Murray looks like the iffier of the two after sustaining a shoulder injury in Friday's practice that limited him Saturday. Kendricks is dealing with a rib injury that limited him Thursday and Friday. But he finished the week with a full Saturday workout. Nick Niemann would likely be the next LB up if either starter misses the game, with rookie Daiyan Henley at No. 4.

Chargers S Alohi Gilman (heel) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears. Gilman got back to a full practice Friday after two limited workouts. He appears on track to return after missing the past three games. We'll confirm his status Sunday.

Chargers S Derwin James (ankle) is active for today's game against the Chiefs. We knocked him down the Week 7 rankings for the injury anyway, and there's clearly risk to using James in IDP lineups. But he's available if you need him.

Chargers Edge Joey Bosa (toe) carries no injury status into Sunday's game against the Chiefs. It's the first time that has been the case for him since Week 2. Bosa's playing time climbed to 47% last week, his highest level since the season opener. This week's status and Bosa's full Friday practice points to further playing-time growth against Kansas City. We've moved Bosa up the Week 7 DL rankings a bit, but the matchup with the Chiefs remains negative for pass rushers.
