Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence told reporters on Tuesday that he's "optimistic" that he'll be able to play vs. the Saints on Thursday night, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. “But of course we'll have to make that decision on Thursday," Lawrence added. He was on the practice field on Tuesday with a brace on that injured left knee. Backup QB C.J. Lawrence's injury didn't occur until Jacksonville's last actual offensive play. QB C.J. Beathard came on for only three kneel-downs to close out the game. Before that, Lawrence threw for just 181 yards on 20-of-30 passing. That 6.0 yards per attempt marked Lawrence's second-lowest rate through the first six games -- in his first game with fewer than 200 passing yards. We're not sure there's a larger takeaway from this one, which found the Jags performing just OK on offense in the rematch with a division rival. Jacksonville netted a mere 233 total yards while benefiting from four Colts turnovers. Don't be surprised if Lawrence falls out of the top 12 at QB when we update our Week 7 rankings.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence completed 25 passes on 37 attempts for 315 yards with 1 TD in Week 5’s win vs. the Bills. He added some nice yardage on the ground again this week, totaling 31 yards on 7 carries in the contest. Perhaps the Jags should consider playing all of their games overseas in London. This offense has looked considerably better over the last two weeks than it had to open the year. The issue, however, is that Lawrence still has yet to clear 20 fantasy points in a single game. Still, he’s worthy of being a low-end QB1 on a weekly basis and will be again in Week 6 vs. the Colts.

Something just isn’t clicking with this Jacksonville offense so far this season. Lawrence is now averaging 13.78 fantasy points per game through three weeks. We’d figured the Texans wouldn’t be such a tough obstacle for the Jaguars, so these results are pretty jarring. We’ll see if they can put anything together in Week 4 vs. the Falcons, though it might be time for legitimate concern.
The Jags mustered only 9 points in Sunday's loss to Kansas City. That meant a big-time dud from QB Trevor Lawrence, who tallied just 216 passing yards on a 53.6% completion rate. He managed only 5.3 yards per attempt. “We’re better than that. We’re a better team than that … it’s kind of embarrassing,” Lawrence said afterward. Calvin Ridley (2 catches) and Zay Jones (0 catches) played through minor knee injuries in this one, but we’re not expecting any missed time. Expect a Lawrence bounce back in Week 3 vs. Houston.
Jaguars HC Doug Pederson is turning over play-calling duties to OC Press Taylor, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "I totally trust Press," Pederson told NFL.com. "We think alike. We've been together for a long time, and he's around Trevor [Lawrence] all the time and knows what Trevor likes." We'd prefer Pederson continue calling plays considering Jacksonville's success last year. But we're ultimately not expecting a significant fantasy impact here. Taylor has worked under Pederson for six NFL seasons.
