Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Browns WR Amari Cooper snagged 3 of 4 targets for 74 yards in Week 7. He seemed to be on his way to a big day after hauling in a 55-yard deep ball in the 1st quarter. Yet in total, he saw just a 14.8% target share. Cooper's still racked up 70+ yards in 4 of his past 6 matchups. And Cleveland’s game script could force more passing than desired this week against the surging Bengals.
Browns WR Amari Cooper caught 4 balls for 44 yards and Cleveland's only TD in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. He drew 12 targets, a 26.7% share and double the total of his nearest teammate. The Browns get an upside passing matchup vs. Baltimore in Week 7.
Browns WR Amari Cooper rebounded from a disappointing Week 4 to deliver a 7-76-1 receiving line among 12 targets in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. He ate up 35.3% of Cleveland targets for the game. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones ranked 2nd at 7 looks, catching 4 or 50 yards.
Browns TE David Njoku caught 5 balls among 7 targets for a team-with 73 yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons. He tied for the team reception lead with WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, who led Cleveland with 9 targets. DPJ collected 71 yards. No other Brown exceeded 35 yards receiving. TE Harrison Bryant was the only other player with more than 2 receptions. He caught 4 of 6 targets for 18 yards. WR Amari Cooper drew just 4 looks and caught only 1 for 9 yards.
After posting a 9-101-1 line in Week 2, Browns WR Amari Cooper racked up 7 catches on 11 targets for 101 yards and a TD in Thursday night's win over the Steelers. Cooper was creating big separation all night, scoring on a slant from 11 yards out and tallying 3 grabs of 18+ yards. After garnering 17.6% of Browns targets in the opener, Cooper has registered big 37.0% and 35.5% target shares the past 2 outings. If he stays anywhere near that level, he'll be an every-week fantasy starter -- even in a run-leaning Cleveland offense.
Browns WR Amari Cooper came alive for 9 catches, 101 yards and 1 score vs. the Jets. His 10 targets led the team and represented a huge 37% share. He also saw a whopping 68% of Cleveland’s air yards. His lone score came on a busted zone coverage in the end zone. Overall, it was nice to see a more accurate Jacoby Brissett utilizing Cooper in the short to intermediate ranges. The former Cowboy should be treated as a WR3 for now.
WR Donovan Peoples-Jones led the Browns in targets (11), receptions (6) and receiving yards (60) in Sunday's win over the Panthers. He beat WR Amari Cooper by 5 targets, while RB Kareem Hunt was the only other Cleveland player to catch more than 3 balls or crack 20 receiving yards. Cooper managed just a 3-17 receiving line on his 6 looks. Anthony Schwartz drew the only other 2 targets among WRs.
Following a settlement between the Browns and the league, QB Deshaun Watson will be suspended 11 games. He’ll pay a $5 million fine and be required to enter a treatment program. Watson’s now scheduled to make his Browns debut in Week 13… at Houston. The 11-game suspension makes Watson undraftable outside of deep 2-QB leagues and maybe as a last-round pick in best-ball tournaments. The fantasy values of guys like Nick Chubb, Amari Cooper and David Njoku also take a hit with the news. We'll see if Cleveland makes a move for QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
Browns WR Amari Cooper returned to practice on Wednesday. He tweaked his right ankle on Monday, but it looks like a non-issue going forward.
Browns WR Amari Cooper hurt his right ankle late in Monday's practice. HC Kevin Stefanski had no update afterward. "I haven't gotten the full report," he said, per Cleveland.com. "I'll update you guys tomorrow." Cooper did remain out with the team (not participating) for the end of practice. We'll watch for the update.
The Cowboys traded WR Amari Cooper and a 6th-round pick to the Browns in exchange for 5th- and 6th-round picks. The compensation is minimal because Cleveland is taking on all of Cooper's $20 million cap hits over the next 3 seasons. The Cowboys were reportedly set to release Cooper if they couldn't find a trade partner. Dallas is believed to be the frontrunners to re-sign WRs Michael Gallup and Cedrick Wilson, who would join CeeDee Lamb as the team's top 3 WRs. In Cleveland, meanwhile, Cooper should establish himself as the #1 WR. Exactly how big a target share he garners will depend on whether the Browns bring back WR Jarvis Landry and/or add more to the WR room. But a run-first offense and questionable QB play puts a damper on Cooper's 2022 fantasy outlook.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cowboys are “likely” to release WR Amari Cooper. It's a matter of money, as the veteran is scheduled to count $22 million against Dallas' salary cap. (If cut, he’ll carry a figure of only ~$6 million.) Coming off an inconsistent year 2, CeeDee Lamb would project as the big winner here. Note that Michael Gallup, Cedrick Wilson and Dalton Schultz are all impending free agents.
Update: According to multiple reports, the Cowboys will try to trade Cooper but are expected to release him if that doesn't work out. Multiple reports also have the team planning to try for a long-term deal with Gallup.
The Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken believes the Cowboys' starters are "unlikely to see [their] usual workload" vs. the Eagles tonight. Dallas has little to play for with the NFC East already clinched. QB Dak Prescott, RB Ezekiel Elliott, WR CeeDee Lamb, WR Amari Cooper and TE Dalton Schultz are all risky fantasy plays.
Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy said Monday that his team will play its starters in Saturday night's regular-season finale at Philadelphia. "We're going to line up to do what we need to do to win the game," McCarthy told reporters, according to The Athletic's Jon Machota. We wouldn't be shocked if RB Ezekiel Elliott gets the night off to rest his knee, or if the Eagles decide to rest starters and thus present a light challenge. For now, though, you should assume that any active Cowboys on your fantasy football roster will be going in Week 18.
Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (COVID) is active for tonight's game vs. the Saints. His limited practice on Wednesday was his only official work since landing on the COVID list. Interim HC Dan Quinn told ESPN's Ed Werder that Cooper's playing time will be "managed initially" with adjustments made "based on how he responds physically." In other words, Cooper may or may not end up playing limited snaps depending on how he's feeling once the game starts. Consider him a risk/reward WR3 in Week 13 fantasy lineups.
Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (COVID) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game vs. the Saints. He was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday, his 1st official practice since coming off the COVID list. ESPN's Ed Werder reported this morning that Cooper is expected to play tomorrow night, but we'll find out for sure around 7 pm ET. WR Cedrick Wilson (ankle) is out for Week 13. That leaves Noah Brown and Malik Turner as Dallas' depth WRs behind CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup and (potentially) Amari Cooper.
Cowboys WR Amari Cooper is expected to play against the Saints on Thursday night, ESPN's Ed Werder reports. Cooper landed on the COVID list 12 days ago but still wasn't feeling 100% as of Tuesday, HC Mike McCarthy said. It's possible that Cooper's snaps are limited vs. New Orleans or just that lingering effects from COVID impact his production. Consider him a risk/reward WR2 play for Week 13.
Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy was non-committal when asked Tuesday about WR Amari Cooper's availability for Thursday night's game vs. the Saints. Cooper is "still not feeling the best" as he recovers from COVID, McCarthy said, and it's uncertain if he'll practice today. "My gut would be if he doesn't practice tomorrow, I don't see him going to the game," McCarthy added. We'll keep you updated on Cooper's status.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday morning that his team is "fully expecting" WR Amari Cooper to play Thursday night against the Saints. Cooper remains on the COVID list but is evidently on track to be activated by Thursday night. He can be penciled into Week 13 fantasy lineups for now.
Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy tested positive for COVID and will miss Thursday night's game vs. the Saints, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. McCarthy is 1 of 8 members of the Cowboys to test positive, Schefter adds. It's unclear how many are players. We'll keep you updated.
