Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Packers WRs Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs missed Wednesday's practice with hamstring injuries. Doubs has been sidelined for close to two weeks now, but it's unclear when Watson got hurt. Their absences vs. the Bears this weekend would leave rookies Jayden Reed and Luke Musgrave as Green Bay's top two pass-catchers -- and likely mean heavy doses of RBs Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon.
Packers HC Matt LaFleur praised WR Christian Watson for his growth in Year 2. "He just seems like a much more confident player and I think we saw that kind of take shape last year, about halfway through the season," LaFleur said. "You gotta remember… I think any time you're a young player and you miss all of training camp essentially, that's tough. That's difficult, so just him being healthy, he had a really good offseason and just his knowledge with our offense, he is one of the most intelligent players that I've ever been around.” (Note: Watson missed most of the ’22 camp following offseason knee surgery.) Now healthy, the 24-year-old brings enticing fantasy upside at a current ADP of WR25.
ESPN's Rob Demovsky named Packers WR Romeo Doubs the team's surprise offseason standout. "Doubs has seemingly become Jordan Love's go-to guy," Demovsky writes. "Whether it's in scripted team periods or move-the-ball drills like the two-minute simulation, Doubs has been targeted time and again." It's worth remembering that Doubs was awesome last preseason, with most of his production coming from Love. And while his rookie season wasn't as impressive as teammate Christian Watson's, Doubs got off to a solid start before a midseason high-ankle sprain got in the way. With rookie Jayden Reed joining Doubs and Watson, this young Packers WR corps will be worth monitoring closely in training camp and preseason.
Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) logged limited practice all week and doesn't carry an official injury designation ahead of Week 18 vs. the Lions. Battling through a hip injury, Watson managed just 1 catch on 5 targets and a 60% route rate last week. He has an awesome matchup on Sunday night vs. Detroit's 26th-ranked WR defense. It's a little tough to trust him in lineups considering the mixed bag of practice results this week. Consider the rookie a low-end WR2.
Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) logged limited participation in practice again on Thursday. The rookie was able to beat this same ailment and suit up last week. We'll know more tomorrow about his status in anticipation of Week 18 vs. the Lions.
Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) only managed to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. The rookie managed to suit up last week despite this ailment, but we'll keep an eye on his status just in case. Check back for updates on Watson ahead of Week 18 vs. the Lions.
Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Vikings. He got in just a limited practice on Friday and was reportedly a game-time decision, so it’s safe to assume that the rookie won’t be at 100%. Consider him a risk/reward WR3.
Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) "will test his injury pre-game to see if he can play vs. the Vikings," ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Watson only got in a limited practice on Friday this week and "didn’t take any live repetitions," according to Schefter. Watson will obviously carry elevated risk if he ends up giving it a go. We'll get Green Bay's inactives around 3 pm ET on Sunday.
Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) logged limited practice participation on Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 17's game vs. the Vikings. It's certainly encouraging to see the rookie get in some work after not practicing on Wednesday or Thursday. Still, it's tough to say fantasy managers should expect him to play. Watson would be in the WR3 conversation if he does suit up in a great spot against a Vikings defense that ranks as the best matchup for opposing WRs in adjusted fantasy points allowed this season. The "didn't practice all week before Friday" part is where we get hung up. Prepare to make other plans for your roster on Sunday.
Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) did not practice again on Thursday ahead of Week 17 vs. the Vikings. It's not looking good for the rookie's availability on Sunday. Limited participation on Friday would inspire some hope at a minimum. Check back again tomorrow for updates.
Packers WR Christian Watson (hip) did not practice on Wednesday. The rookie wideout's availability for Week 17 vs. the Vikings is too soon to call as of now. Check back later for additional information.
Packers HC Mike LaFleur labeled WR Christian Watson "day-to-day" with the hip injury he suffered in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. It sounds like Watson dodged a significant injury, but his availability for this weekend's game vs. the Vikings is unclear. We'll monitor the rookie's practice participation throughout the week.
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 238 yards and 1 TD on 24-of-38 passing in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. His 13.3 fantasy points (by ESPN scoring) is good for 13th among QBs on the week, at least, with 3 games left to go. Rodgers hit TE Marcedes Lewis for his only score and threw 1 INT. Rodgers figures to land in mid-QB2 range for a Week 17 matchup with the Vikings. Minnesota sits top-10 as a QB-scoring matchup but hasn't been as friendly to the position as the Dolphins have. WR Allen Lazard led the Packers with 11 targets at Miami, catching 5 for 61 yards. WR Christian Watson caught a team-high 6 passes before leaving with a hip injury.
Packers WR Christian Watson suffered a hip injury in Sunday's game at Miami. He's questionable to return. We'll keep an eye out for updates.
Packers WR Romeo Doubs performed well in Sunday's win vs. the Rams, hauling in all 5 of his targets for 55 yards. Teammate Christian Watson ended the contest with 4 catches on 6 targets for 46 yards. Watson almost had a TD in the game, but ultimately fell short much to the dismay of fantasy managers whose playoff hopes hinged on his 4-game scoring streak continuing. Veteran Allen Lazard also disappointed, only recording 1 catch on 2 targets for 7 yards. Still, those who survived and advanced should feel good about these Packers WRs in Week 16. The Dolphins' defense ranks as the 8th-best matchup for opposing WRs in adjusted fantasy points allowed this season.
Packers WR Christian Watson scored another 2 TDs in Sunday's win at Chicago. First came a 14-yard TD reception late in the 2nd quarter, 1 of just 3 catches Watson made for the day for 48 yards. His 6 targets tied WR Allen Lazard for the team lead. Watson added a 46-yard TD run in the 2nd half, his only rushing attempt for the game. It was his 2nd rushing score of the year, among just 5 total carries. Watson now has 8 total TDs over the past 4 games, on just 17 total touches. Although he's bound for some regression on that TD rate, the speedy rookie has increased his role in the offense and will be tough to keep out of fantasy football lineups after the Week 14 bye.
Packers WR Romeo Doubs (ankle) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Bears. The rookie returned to practice this week and should be back for Week 14. Christian Watson, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb will again operate as Green Bay’s top 3 WRs today.
Packers WR Romeo Doubs (ankle) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Bears. We’ll see if the rookie can make it back for that one after going down in Week 9, but he shouldn’t be in your fantasy plans. Christian Watson, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb should remain locked in as Green Bay’s top 3 WRs this week.
Packers rookie WR Christian Watson scored for the 3rd straight game, delivering a 63-yard catch-and-run TD in Sunday night's loss to the Eagles. That powered a 4-110-1 receiving line on a team-leading 6 targets. Green Bay threw just 25 passes in a game that saw QB Aaron Rodgers leave early, so Watson accounted for a 24% share. RB Aaron Jones, RB AJ Dillon and WR Randall Cobb tied for 2nd with 4 targets apiece. Jones and Cobb caught the team's other 2 TD passes. WR Allen Lazard contributed just 2 receptions for 24 yards among 3 targets. TE Robert Tonyan caught all 3 of his targets for 20 yards.
