Taysom Hill Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Saints TE Juwan Johnson (calf) did not practice on Tuesday. It doesn't look like he'll make it back for Thursday night's game vs. the Jaguars. Taysom Hill led Saints TEs with a 65% route rate and eight targets last week.

Saints TE Juwan Johnson (calf) did not practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Texans. TEs Taysom Hill, Foster Moreau, and Jimmy Graham split routes with Johnson out last week. None can be trusted in Week 6 fantasy lineups.

Saints RB Jamaal Williams is expected to miss “some time” with his hamstring injury, HC Dennis Allen said Tuesday. We'll see exactly how long Williams is out, but it sounds like he'll at least miss this Sunday's game vs. the Packers. That's the final game of RB Alvin Kamara's three-game suspension, while rookie RB Kendre Miller is still working back from knee and hamstring injuries. So the Saints could be down to Tony Jones as lead back this weekend. We could also see Taysom Hill play a big role on the ground. He wound up carrying nine times for 75 yards in the Week 2 win over the Panthers.

The Saints have listed Taysom Hill at QB for Week 1 after listing him as a TE throughout the summer. This probably doesn't mean anything for how he'll actually be used this season. But make sure you check to see how he's designated in your league. The FFPC, for one, has changed Hill's position designation from TE to QB for both upcoming and completed drafts. The primary allure to Hill at any position is that he has the upside to potentially play QB in any given week. He obviously carries much more upside -- and starting potential -- as a fantasy TE than QB, though. We're keeping him at TE, barring a major shift in Hill's designation across the fantasy landscape.

Saints offensive weapon Taysom Hill strained his oblique in Tuesday's practice, HC Dennis Allen said. Allen added that the injury isn't believed to be serious. We'll let you know when Hill gets back on the field.

11:39am EST 1/8/23

Saints TE Taysom Hill (back) is active for today’s game vs. the Panthers. He was limited in practice all week. Hill carried a season-high 14 times last week and has totaled 30 carries over his last 3 games. It’s unclear if the back issue will limit his role today.

Saints TE Taysom Hill (back) and Juwan Johnson (quadriceps) finished the practice week with limited participation and are both officially questionable for Week 18 vs. the Panthers. Should either receive the green light to play, Johnson is the player worthy of most consideration in fantasy lineups. Though the Panthers' defense ranks as the 8th-toughest matchup in adjusted fantasy points allowed to TEs, Johnson's 26.8% target share over the last 3 weeks is tied for the team lead with WR Rashid Shaheed. Johnson is a high-end TE2/streaming candidate in Week 18.

Saints TEs Taysom Hill (back) and Juwan Johnson (quadriceps) both practiced in a limited fashion on Thursday. Johnson didn't practice at all on Wednesday, so this is a step in the right direction for him. Hill has now been limited on back-to-back days. Be sure to check back tomorrow for additional information regarding their availability for Week 18 vs. the Panthers.

Saints TE Taysom Hill (back) was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. Fellow TE Juwan Johnson (quadriceps) did not log practice. It's still early enough in the week for things to turn around for the Saints duo. We'll let you know how their participation evolves this week in advance of Week 18 vs. the Panthers.

Saints QB Andy Dalton finished with 18 completions on 22 attempts for 204 yards and 1 INT in Week 17's win vs. the Eagles. QB/TE hybrid Taysom Hill had his fair share of production as well, completing both of his pass attempts for 24 yards in addition to 46 rushing yards and a TD on the ground. The tandem approach has worked relatively well for the Saints all season, but it's far from an ideal circumstance for an NFL offense to rely upon. The pair will prepare to take on the Panthers in Week 18.

Saints shape-shifter Taysom Hill tallied 56 yards and a TD on 9 carries in Saturday's win over the Browns. It marked Hill's largest rushing total since Week 8 and his 1st rushing TD since Week 5. Hill has been running the ball more lately, though. He has carried 6+ times in 4 of his past 5 games after reaching that number just twice through his first 9 appearances.

Saints TE/QB/ninja Taysom Hill connected with WR Rashid Shaheed for a 68-yard TD in Sunday's win over the Falcons. It was 1 of 2 pass attempts for Hill, who also completed a 12-yarder to TE Juwan Johnson. Hill added 30 rushing yards on 7 carries, tallying 10.2 PPR points for the game. He'll remain a risk-reward play at TE over the final weeks of the fantasy football playoffs.

Saints TE Juwan Johnson (ankle) is out for Monday night's game vs. the Bucs. That figures to vault TE Adam Trautman into the lead role and might also mean more action in the passing game for Taysom Hill.

Saints TE Juwan Johnson (ankle) missed his 2nd straight practice on Friday, putting him in danger of missing Monday night’s game vs. the Bucs. We’ll see how he’s listed on the final injury report on Saturday afternoon. Johnson’s absence would leave Adam Trautman as New Orleans’ lead TE and potentially mean a bigger pass-catching role for Taysom Hill.

11:35am EDT 10/16/22

Saints WR Chris Olave (concussion) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Bengals. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so unless he suffered a setback, he should return for Week 7. With WRs Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry also out, New Orleans is down to WRs Tre’Quan Smith, Marquez Callaway and Keith Kirkwood. Expect a run-heavy game plan with plenty of Taysom Hill.

Saints TE/whatever Taysom Hill found the end zone in Sunday's loss to the Vikings in London. Hill logged 5 rushing attempts in the game and ran 5 routes. His 2-yard rushing score came on his lone carry inside the red zone. Be careful of overrating his 2 rushing scores in 3 appearances.

Saints QB Jameis Winston is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Vikings in London because of back and ankle injuries that have kept him out of practice this week. That will leave Andy Dalton as the starter. Dalton's career completion rate (62.2%) stands just 0.9 percentage points higher than Winston's, so we're not ready to project a boost in catch rate for Saints skill players. Dalton's shorter career average depth of target, though (8.6 vs. Winston's 10.8) could alter the offensive approach. Dalton's style could help the target shares of RB Alvin Kamara and WR Jarvis Landry in particular. We're still betting on WR Michael Thomas' absence affecting the pass-catchers' outlooks more than the QB switch, though. Missing Winston also could mean a few more Taysom Hill snaps behind center. He carries some upside if you're reaching deep for a TE. But we wouldn't play Hill over anyone from David Njoku up in this week's TE rankings.

11:34am EDT 9/25/22

Saints TE Taysom Hill (rib) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Panthers. His absence could free up some goal-line opportunities for RB Alvin Kamara.

Saints weapon Taysom Hill (rib) is not expected to play vs. the Panthers today, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Hill has tallied 7 carries and 1 target on 22 offensive snaps through 2 games, so his absence opens up a few touches in New Orleans.

Saints TE Taysom Hill (rib) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. We'll find out whether he's active around 11:30 am ET, but hopefully you're not relying on Hill in lineup-setting fantasy leagues.
