Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Cowboys named Brian Schottenheimer their new OC. He spent this past season in Dallas as an offensive consultant. HC Mike McCarthy is expected to take over play-calling duties from the departed Kellen Moore, so we're not sure Schottenheimer's role will change much in 2023. He does have 12 seasons of experience as an NFL OC, most recently from 2018-2020 with the Seahawks. Those were run-leaning attacks, with 2 of the 3 finishing top 3 in rushing attempts.
Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy will take over play-calling duties from departed OC Kellen Moore, owner Jerry Jones said. Jones added that McCarthy will deploy a "version of the offenses he ran in Green Bay," according to The Dallas News' Calvin Watkins. McCarthy spent 13 years running the Packers offense, leading 10 of those teams to top 10 finishes in points, total yards or both. He was helped, of course, by having Brett Favre under center for his first 2 seasons and Aaron Rodgers for the final 11. McCarthy's offenses leaned pass, with 9 of them ranking higher in pass attempts than rush attempts. We'd expect a similar attack with QB Dak Prescott in 2023 but will keep an eye on McCarthy's plans throughout the offseason.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb hauled in 10 of 13 targets for 117 yards in Sunday's Divisional Round loss vs. the 49ers. TE Dalton Schultz also came up big again, catching 5 of 10 targets for 27 yards and 1 TD in the contest. Lamb will be locked into the WR1 conversation again in the coming season. On the other hand, Schultz is staring down free agency with an uncertain future ahead. It would certainly be great to see him return to the Cowboys long-term in hopes of extending his streak of TE1 finishes to 4 seasons and beyond. Add Schultz's name to the list of big question marks for the franchise looking ahead into the offseason.
Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz roped in 7 of 8 targets for 95 yards and 2 TDs in Monday’s Wild Card victory vs. the Buccaneers. Teammate WR CeeDee Lamb also performed well, snagging 4 of 6 his targets for 68 yards and a score of his own. This pair made a tremendous difference in the outcome of this game and will look to continue this success against the 49ers next weekend in the Divisional Round. Though the 49ers’ defense ranks 7th in Football Outsiders’ pass defense DVOA this season, we did see Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf eclipse the century mark in receiving yards with 2 TDs on Saturday. Perhaps QB Dak Prescott and company could replicate that success in the next round.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb racked up 10 catches for 120 yards and 2 TDs in Saturday's win over the Eagles. It was his 2nd straight game with 120+ yards. All 4 of his 100-yard games this season have come among the past 7 contests. He'll get a pass-favoring matchup with the Titans in Week 17. WR Michael Gallup snagged Dallas' other passing TD against Philly, totaling a 4-36-1 receiving line on 7 targets. TE Dalton Schultz added 3-43 on 4 targets.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb caught all 7 of his targets for 126 scoreless yards in Sunday's OT loss to the Jaguars. WR Noah Brown ranked 2nd among Cowboys pass-catchers, hauling in 6 of a team-high 9 targets for 49 yards and 2 TDs. TE Peyton Hendershot claimed the team's other receiving TD. TE Dalton Schultz tallied just 2 receptions for 15 yards among 4 targets. Dallas gets a tough passing matchup with the Eagles in Week 16. Then comes 1 of the league's most favorable passing matchups in the Titans.
Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz led the team in targets (10), receptions (6) and receiving yards (87) in Sunday's narrow escape from the Texans. He beat everyone else on the team by 4 looks. WR Noah Brown checked in 2nd with 85 yards on 4 catches (6 targets). WR CeeDee Lamb (5-33) and WR Michael Gallup (2-40) matched Brown's target count. Dallas heads to Jacksonville -- the 3rd-best WR-scoring matchup in the league -- in Week 15.
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott posted 170 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT on 30 attempts in a Week 13 win over Indianapolis. Dallas won in a blowout following a trio of 4th-quarter rushing TDs, so Dak wasn’t really needed much late. His scores went to Michael Gallup (2) and CeeDee Lamb. Prescott certainly remains a QB1 for the road ahead. Just note: Week 14 turns up a Houston matchup — at home — that should produce a run-heavy game plan. After that comes a favorable draw at Jacksonville.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb caught 6 balls for 106 yards in Thursday's win over the Giants. He led the team in both categories, as well as drawing a team-high 11 targets. Lamb nearly added a 2-yard TD in the 4th quarter but just missed getting his feed down inbounds. It's the 2nd game of 100+ yards for Lamb among the past 3. WR Michael Gallup finished 2nd on the team in targets (8), receptions (5) and yards (63). The Cowboys get the Colts in Week 13.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb racked up 11 catches for 150 yards and 2 TDs in Sunday's OT loss at Green Bay. He drew a season-high 15 targets and exceeded 100 yards for the 1st time this season. TE Dalton Schultz ranked 2nd in targets (8), receptions (6) and yards (54) and snagged QB Dak Prescott's other TD. WR Michael Gallup caught 4 of 7 targets for 35 yards. RB Tony Pollard was the only other Cowboys to catch more than 1 ball.
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott delivered 250 yards and 2 TDs on 21-of-27 passing in Sunday's win over the Bears. He added 34 yards and a TD on 5 rushing attempts. He found WR CeeDee Lamb for a team-high 77 yards on 5 catches and connected for a TD. The other TD pass went to rookie TE Jake Ferguson. TE Dalton Schultz tied for the team target lead (7) and caught 6 for 74 yards. WR Michael Gallup added 4-49 receiving on 6 targets. No other Cowboy drew more than 2 targets. Prescott looks like at least a top-12 fantasy QB going forward, with solid matchups at Green Bay and Minnesota following the Week 9 bye.
Cowboys WR Noah Brown (foot) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Bears. His absence frees up a few targets for WRs CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup.
Cowboys WR Noah Brown (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Bears. He didn’t practice all week, so he’ll obviously be at less than 100% if he suits up this weekend. Brown should not be in your Week 8 fantasy plans. His absence would leave a few extra targets for WRs CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup.
Cowboys WR Noah Brown (foot) missed practice again on Thursday. His absence this weekend vs. the Bears would leave a few extra targets for WRs CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup.
Cowboys Dak Prescott threw for just 207 yards and 1 TD in Sunday's win over the Lions. It marked the 1st time he had played since injuring his right thumb in the opener. Dallas dropped him back only 28 times vs. 31 team rushing attempts. Prescott completed 76% of his throws and averaged 8.3 yards per attempts. So we don't have any concern for him coming off the disappointing fantasy stat line. WR CeeDee Lamb led the team with 70 receiving yards on 4 catches (6 targets). Noah Brown drew a team-high 7 targets, catching 5 for 50 yards. TE Dalton Schultz caught all 5 of his targets for 49 yards. No other Cowboy drew more than 2 looks in the game.
Cowboys rookie TE Jake Ferguson caught 4 of 6 targets for 40 yards and the team's lone passing TD in Sunday night's loss to the Eagles. He checked in 3rd in targets, with TE Peyton Hendershot drawing another 5 and TE Sean McKeon 1 as well. WR CeeDee Lamb led Dallas with 10 targets, catching 5 for 68 yards. WR Michael Gallup ranked 2nd, putting up a 2-18 receiving line on his 7 looks. QB Cooper Rush attempted a season-high 38 passes but completed only 18 (47.4%) for 181 yards and 1 TD. He also threw 3 INTs.
