Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Panthers signed WR Hunter Renfrow. The 29-year-old was out of the league last year, seemingly by his own accord. He spent the previous five seasons with the Raiders, totaling 269 catches for 2,884 yards and 17 TDs. He caught 103 balls back in 2021 but combined for just 61 across 2022 and 2023.
Broncos LB Dre Greenlaw recently suffered a quad tear during a workout, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's Jennifer Lee Chan. Greenlaw could miss "a substantial portion" of the season, with at least a chance he misses the whole thing. Greenlaw signed with Denver in free agency this offseason.
The Tennessee Titans signed Miami WR Xavier Restrepo to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. At nearly 5’10, 200 pounds, Restrepo is a compactly built slot target. In college, he ran 92% of his routes from the slot, per PFF. He’s made strides as a route runner and has shown reliable hands, so there’s plenty to like. Restrepo spent five years at Miami, with the last two producing 154 catches, 2,219 yards, and 17 TDs. He led the Hurricanes in catches and receiving. He had a 3.94 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) based on his predraft testing. He also ranked 21st among Combine WRs in 2024 Target Share at 21%, and 10th among those WRs in PFF Receiving Grade with an 83. He is currently 22 years old with a Breakout Age of 21.4. He ranked 14th among WRs in our Draft Sharks predraft Rookie Model scoring a 6.78. Our Comp for him in our Draft Sharks Rookie Guide is Julian Edelman.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that 49ers S Malik Mustapha tore his right ACL in the team's season finale. ESPN's Nick Wagoner says, "There is no definitive timeline on Mustapha's return, but -- given how late in the year the injury occurred -- it's unlikely he will be ready at the start of the season." Wagoner added that the injury is "related" to the ACL tear he suffered in January 2022, while at Wake Forest.
The San Francisco 49ers signed Nebraska WR Isaiah Neyor to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Neyor broke out at Wyoming in 2021. The redshirt sophomore led the Cowboys with the following market shares: 27.1% of the catches, 41.5% of the receiving yards, and 80% of the receiving TDs. He recorded a monster 20.0 yards per catch. Neyor capitalized on the huge season by transferring to Texas, but his momentum hit a wall with a 2022 ACL tear. He didn’t play at all that season and barely saw the field in ‘23, prompting a move to Nebraska. Last fall, Neyor ranked second on the team in receiving yards and first in TDs. He sat third in targets and fifth in catches, though. Neyor was among the biggest winners at the NFL combine and has the raw tools you look for in a late-round pick. He had a 9.90 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) based on his predraft testing. He also ranked 39th among Combine WRs in 2024 Target Share at 15.9%, and 45th among those WRs in PFF Receiving Grade with a 61.2. He is currently 23 years old with a Breakout Age of 19.2. He ranked 28th among WRs in our Draft Sharks predraft Rookie Model scoring a 5.95. Our Comp for him in our Rookie Guide is Bryce Ford-Wheaton. Prather isn’t an explosive post-catch player, but he’s shown enough of an overall game to garne to make an NFL roster. His 4.40 speed at 6’4, 218 pounds screams developmental upside.
The San Francisco 49ers signed Cincinnati RB Corey Kiner to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Kiner held the RB2 role as a true freshman at LSU. He played behind junior Ty Davis-Price, a future Round 3 pick of San Francisco. Kiner transferred to Cincinnati the following year and didn’t earn the lead back role until 2023. Over the next two seasons, he totaled 2,200 yards and 9 TDs. 2024 was particularly impressive. Kiner set career highs in yards per carry, yards after contact per attempt, PFF Elusive Rating, and PFF rushing grade. The bulk of his carries came in a zone scheme. Kiner showed underwhelming speed and burst at the NFL combine, registering a 4.57 forty and a 1.59 10-yard split. But his game is built on contact balance, and he’ll look to find a two-down role in the pros.
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Memphis WR Roc Taylor to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. This past year, he had boosted use as a downfield threat (14.5-yard aDOT). Taylor confirmed that speed with a 4.49 (at 213 pounds) at the combine. After two quiet seasons, Taylor’s production exploded as a 2023 junior at Memphis. He tallied team highs in catches (69) and receiving yards (1,083). The yardage marked a nice 27.2% team share, while Taylor added a strong 2.60 yards per route run. The Alabama native remained steady as an outside WR in 2024. He had a 7.23 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) based on his predraft testing. He also ranked 18th among Combine WRs in 2024 Target Share at 23.3%, and 32nd among those WRs in PFF Receiving Grade with a 74.1. He ranked 40th among WRs in our Draft Sharks predraft Rookie Model scoring a 5.77. Our Comp for him in our Rookie Guide is Romeo Doubs.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Florida RB Montrell Johnson Jr. to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Johnson started off at Louisiana, where he led the backfield in carries (162) and TDs (12) as a freshman. He transferred to Florida the next year after his HC – Billy Napier – took the same job in Gainesville. Johnson played a 1A role ahead of Trevor Etienne in 2022 and 2023. In August of 2024, he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. Later that season, he missed several games with a lower-body injury. Johnson still flashed when active, setting career highs in yards per carry (5.9) and PFF Elusive Rating (86.0) in 2024. It’s easy to lose Johnson in a loaded RB class, but he has the requisite athleticism to earn snaps.
The New York Jets signed Michigan RB Donovan Edwards to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Edwards made a name for himself in 2022 with a dominant game against rival Ohio State, rushing for 216 yards and two TDs. The Michigan native disappointed in his final season at Michigan, however. With Blake Corum leaving, eyes were on Edwards to fill the lead back role. After early inefficiency, he lost the job to power back Kalel Mullings and never cleared 100 rushing yards in any game. Still, the former five-star recruit had a solid Senior Bowl and posted a 4.45 40-time at 205 pounds. He also proved throughout his career that he can contribute as a pass catcher. There could be untapped potential for Edwards at the pro level.
The New Orleans Saints signed Deleware RB Marcus Yarns to an Undrafted Free Agent Contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. A zero-star recruit, Yarns spent all four of his seasons at Delaware. Now, most small school players with an NFL future have eye-popping stats at their level of competition. Yarns never had a 1,000-yard rushing season, but his receiving ability (including 13 receiving TDs over the past three years) and athleticism show NFL potential. At the Combine, the 193-pounder recorded a 4.45 forty, a 37.5" vertical, and a 122" broad jump. Those were all 74th percentile or better finishes among Combine RBs since 1999. His long speed is evident on tape, but a lack of size figures to limit his NFL workloads.
The New England Patriots signed Alabama TE C.J. Dippre to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Dippre caught just 65 balls across four college seasons – two at Maryland and two at Alabama. His 21 catches and 256 yards last year both ranked third on a Tide offense that averaged just 236 passing yards per game. But Dippre averaged an underwhelming 1.26 yards per route – 17th among 21 TEs at the Combine. Dippre was a short-range target for both schools, with a career 5.0-yard average target depth. He at least averaged a strong 7.6 yards after catch per reception, including 8.8 last year. Dippre earned an 8.71 Relative Athletic Score at 256 pounds at the Combine, so he’s a good athlete. But his production profile ultimately leaves him as a long shot to emerge as a fantasy asset.
The Los Angeles Chargers signed South Carolina RB Raheim Sanders to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. “Rocket” Sanders was once a highly touted prospect expected to be a potential first-round NFL Draft pick. He rushed for 1,443 yards and 10 TDs at Arkansas in 2022, quickly ascending as a top RB in all of college football. Unfortunately, 2023 was plagued by injuries, including a knee issue and a severe shoulder injury that required surgery. He transferred to South Carolina in 2024 to reunite with OC Dowell Loggains, leading to 1,000+ total yards. He runs with adequate power but will need to clean up the fumbles after putting three balls on the ground in ‘24. After running a 4.46 40-yard dash at 217 pounds, Sanders showed he has the speed to impact NFL games.
The Kansas City Chiefs signed Clemson TE Jake Briningstool to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. The former four-star recruit started for the Tigers for the last two seasons, totaling 99 catches for 1,028 yards and 12 TDs. Briningstool doesn’t pop in the advanced metrics. Among 21 Combine TEs, he ranked 10th in Dominator Rating, 16th in yards per route, and 19th in Pro Football Focus receiving grade last year. And he registered an underwhelming 6.29 Relative Athletic Score at the Combine. But we like Briningstool’s tape. He has soft hands, can win at all levels of the field, and punishes DBs after the catch. We comped him to Dalton Schultz, who has turned in three top-12 fantasy seasons. Don’t be surprised if Briningstool becomes a fantasy factor over the next few years.
The Kansas City Chiefs selected Florida WR Elijhah Badger to a Undrafted Free Agent Contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. A speedy 4.4 player, Badger can make a number of different catches and reliably gets open against man coverage. Badger led Arizona State in receiving in 2022 and 2023 before leaving for the SEC in 2024. He continued his success at Florida, leading the team in receiving yards and TDs. He had a 9.30 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) based on his predraft testing. He also ranked 26th among Combine WRs in 2024 Target Share at 19.3%, and 15th among those WRs in PFF Receiving Grade with an 81.5. He is currently 23 years old with a Breakout Age of 21.1. He ranked 23rd among WRs in our Draft Sharks predraft Rookie Model scoring a 6.03. Our Comp for him in our Rookie Guide is Jeff Janis. His experience and athletic upside make him an intriguing sleeper option.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Arkansas RB Ja'Quinden Jackson to an Undrafted Free Agent Contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Texas recruited Jackson to play QB out of high school. It wasn’t until the 2022 season, at Utah, that he transitioned to RB. In 2023, he led the Utes in carries (161), yards (797), and rushing TDs (4). He told Whole Hog Sports that he was “going through injuries that I couldn’t really help.” Jackson transferred to Arkansas last year and dealt with a sore ankle during training camp. Still, he led the backfield across the board. He popped in 15 TDs across only 10 games. Jackson wasn’t a standout performer at the Combine, but his tape shows enough to potentially fill a depth role. His size (6'1, 229 pounds) provides short-yardage appeal.
The Atlanta Falcons signed South Carolina TE Joshua Simon to an Undrafted Free Agent Contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Simon spent six years in college: four at Western Kentucky, followed by two at South Carolina. He contributed immediately with a 30-430-4 line as a freshman and a 33-370-3 as a sophomore. But that momentum was halted by a season-ending knee injury in the 2021 season opener. Simon spent one more year at Western Kentucky (20-273-6) before transferring to South Carolina. He was relatively quiet in 2023 but emerged as the Gamecocks’ top pass catcher this past year. Simon led the team with 40 catches, 519 yards, and seven TDs, registering a 31.8% Dominator Rating that ranked fourth among the 21 TEs at the Combine. He also ranked fourth in yards per team pass attempt and eighth in yards per route – although it’s worth noting that the strong 2024 came at 23 years old. Simon is a plus athlete (8.77 Relative Athletic Score) with natural receiving ability, making him an intriguing sleeper for dynasty players.
The Atlanta Falcons signed San Jose State WR Nick Nash to an Undrafted Free Agent Contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Nash was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s best receiver after catching 104 passes for 1,382 yards and 16 TDs in 2024. His production gives him intriguing upside. He spent his entire career at San Jose State, earning a starting spot in his fourth year in 2023 before exploding this past season. His clean route running on film makes him intriguing, especially at 6’3 and 203 pounds. He had a 5.99 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) based on his predraft testing. He also ranked third among Combine WRs in 2024 Target Share at 32.8%, and sixth among those WRs in PFF Receiving Grade with an 86.9. He is currently 24 years old with a Breakout Age of 23.1. He ranked 19th among WRs in our Draft Sharks predraft Rookie Model scoring a 6.20. Our Comp for him in our Rookie Guide is Demarcus Robinson. Nash could find an NFL role if he can overcome his lack of deep speed
The Broncos selected Lohner with the 241st pick in Round 7 of the 2025 NFL Draft. Lohner, a former basketball player at BYU and Baylor, was the Utes number two TE due to his athleticism. He scored an 8.83 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) at 6'7, 256 pounds and running a 4.69 40. Lohner's 37" Vertical and 10'06 Broad were near the top of the TE position for the 2025 Draft. He offers intriguing developmental upside based on that athleticism. He only had four catches for 54 yards this season, but all four were TDs.
The Houston Texans selected Iowa TE Luke Lachey in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was the top-ranked recruit in the Hawkeyes’ 2020 class but failed to live up to the hype. Lachey tallied a 28-398-4 line behind TE Sam LaPorta in 2022. But an ankle injury limited him to three games and required surgery in 2023, and Lachey managed only 28 catches for 231 scoreless yards this past year. He played in an anemic Iowa passing game, but his 65.7 Pro Football Focus receiving grade ranked just 15th among 21 TEs at the Combine. Lachey was used primarily near the line of scrimmage (6.3-yard average target depth) and averaged just 3.5 yards after the catch per reception last year. He registered a 7.42 Relative Athletic Score at the Combine. The recent success of Iowa TEs in the NFL is about all that Lachey has working in his favor.
The New Orleans Saints selected UCLA Moliki Matavao in Round 7 of the 2025 NFL Draft. Matavao couldn’t beat out TE Terrance Ferguson for the starting job at Oregon, so he transferred to UCLA ahead of the 2023 season. He caught just 14 balls in his first year with the Bruins but broke out with a 41-506-2 line last year. The catches and yards led the team – although Matavao’s 16.0% Dominator Rating ranked just 14th among the 21 TEs the Combine. His 1.65 yards per route tied for eighth. The 6’6, 260-pounder split his time fairly evenly as a slot, in-line, and out wide player. He impressed with the ball in his hands, notching 7.8 yards after catch per reception. But Matavao’s modest athleticism (6.59 Relative Athletic Score) and single year of production make him a long shot for real fantasy value.
