Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) did not practice on Thursday. He either suffered a setback with that ankle or got the day off. Tomorrow's practice participation and final injury report will tell the story. With RB Samaje Perine still on the COVID list, rookie Chris Evans could be left as the lead back for Sunday's game vs. the Lions.

Patriots RB Damien Harris (ribs) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. It gives him a shot to play vs. the Cowboys this weekend. Check back tomorrow for another update on Harris.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert was not activated from the COVID list and is out for tonight's game vs. the Bucs. We'll see if he can get cleared for Week 7. TE Zach Ertz is a nice target bet tonight with Goedert out and Philly likely to deploy a pass-heavy game plan.

Browns RBs Nick Chubb (calf) and Kareem Hunt (knee, wrist) missed their 2nd straight practices on Thursday. This looks like a case of the Browns getting their 2 RBs some mid-week rest, but check back tomorrow for another update on the situation.

Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (illness) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. We usually don't worry about guys missing time with illnesses, but it's a different climate with COVID. ESPN's Dan Graziano reported earlier today that the Cardinals have had 3 positive COVID tests this week. To be clear, we don't know that Hopkins is 1 of them. We'll get another update on his status by Friday afternoon at the latest.

The Bears on Thursday placed RB Damien Williams on the COVID list. Regardless of his specific status, that doesn't give him a very good chance of playing Sunday against the Packers. Already without David Montgomery (knee sprain), Chicago now figures to lean on rookie Khalil Herbert as the backfield leader. The touch volume should be solid-to-good, but make sure you don't overrate the situation for a 6th-round pick in a bad offense and a matchup that finds the opponent heavily favored. Ryan Nall is the only other RB on the active roster and figures to be involved to some degree. He totaled just 3 carries and 9 targets for last year's Bears. Artavis Pierce is the only RB on the practice squad.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Williams tested positive for COVID. It'll be tough for him to return 2 negative tests prior to Sunday's game vs. the Packers.

Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (quad) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. His availability for this weekend's game vs. Washington is now in some doubt. We'll see if he practices on Friday and then how he's listed on the final injury.

Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) did not practice on Thursday. It's a downgrade after he put in 3 limited practices last week. Hopefully he didn't suffer a setback. We'll get another update on McCaffrey tomorrow, but at this point it seems more likely than not that he misses Sunday's game vs. the Vikings.

Ravens OC Greg Roman said Thursday that there's a "chance" WR Rashod Bateman (core) makes his debut against the Chargers this weekend. “He’s looking good," Roman added. "I don’t think we’re going to throw him into the fire every play. I think we’re going to build him into the plan every week.” It sounds like Bateman will be on some type of snap count if he does play on Sunday. The rookie isn't a Week 6 fantasy option but is still a nice bench stash for the 2nd half of the season.

Giants QB Daniel Jones (concussion) has been cleared to practice on a limited basis on Thursday. He's made some progress through the protocol but still has work to do to be cleared for Sunday's game vs. the Rams. Check back tomorrow for another update on his status.

Browns WR Jarvis Landry (knee) is eligible to return from IR this week but hasn't yet been activated and didn't practice on Wednesday. He has resumed running, according to insider Scott Petrak. We'll continue to monitor Landry's progress, but fantasy owners can't be counting on him in Week 6 fantasy lineups.

Broncos RB Melvin Gordon missed Wednesday's practice with a hip injury. He'd been dealing with a lower-leg issue, but this is a new injury. We'll see if Gordon gets back on the practice field tomorrow.

Giants HC Joe Judge said Wednesday that QB Daniel Jones is "on track with everything" in his return from the Week 5 concussion and might play Sunday against the Rams, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. That's a little surprising given how wobbly Jones was before leaving the field in Dallas. We'll obviously have to watch his status throughout the week.

Titans WR Julio Jones (hamstring) got on the practice field on Wednesday. It was an unofficial practice with the Titans playing the Bills on Monday night this week, but it seemingly puts Jones on track to return for that game. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (neck) did not practice on Wednesday. He did participate in the walkthrough, HC Pete Carroll said, and the plan is to get him on the practice field on Thursday. So it sounds like Carson has a shot to play vs. the Steelers on Sunday night. Check back tomorrow for another update.

Bears WR Allen Robinson (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. We don't have any other details on his situation, but Robinson did play his usual allotment of snaps in last week's win over the Raiders. We'll see if he gets back on the practice field tomorrow.

Chargers WR Mike Williams (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. He played through this issue last week and should be fine for Sunday's game vs. the Ravens. But check back for another update on Williams' status tomorrow.

Steelers WR James Washington (groin) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. It was his 1st work since hurting that groin in last Thursday's practice. We'll see if he's ready for Sunday night's game vs. the Seahawks. A healthy Washington is the favorite to replace JuJu Smith-Schuster in 3-WR sets.

Ravens WR Sammy Watkins did not practice on Wednesday. He's on the injury report with a thigh, rather than the hamstring injury that was announced during Monday night's win over the Colts. Either way, Watkins is clearly in danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Chargers.

Patriots RB Damien Harris (ribs) did not practice on Wednesday. He never re-entered last week's game after hurting his ribs and is seemingly in danger of missing Sunday's game vs. the Cowboys. That'd likely put rookie RB Rhamondre Stevenson in a lead ball-carrying role. We'll get another update on Harris tomorrow.
