Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Rams TE Tyler Higbee caught 9 balls for 94 yards among a team-dominating 11 targets (39.3%). Higbee also claimed both of the team's TD receptions. No other Ram caught more than 3 passes. TE Brycen Hopkins' 57 yards (on 3 catches) ranked 2nd on the team. No other teammate reached 30 yards.
Rams RB Cam Akers racked up 118 yards and 3 TDs on 23 carries in Sunday's beatdown of the Broncos. The numbers mark big jumps over his previous season highs. Akers has scored 6 rushing TDs over his past 4 games, though, and topped 5.0 yards per carry in 2 straight games. He now looks much more attractive as a Week 17 fantasy football option at the Chargers than we would have expected even heading into Week 16. RB Malcolm Brown added 19 yards on 2 carries. RB Kyren Williams rushed 6 times for 18 yards.
Broncos QB Russell Wilson went just 15-of-27 passing for 214 yards in Sunday's lopsided loss to the Rams. He tossed 1 TD vs. 3 INTs and took 6 sacks in the game. Wilson gave way to QB Brett Rypien for the team's final 2 possessions (1 of which produced a Rams pick-6). We'd bet on Wilson returning to the lineup for Week 17 against the Chiefs but would hope to not have to use him in fantasy football lineups.
Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy caught 6 balls for 117 yards in Sunday's loss to the Rams, leading the team in both categories and targets (10). WR Courtland Sutton returned from his hamstring injury to post a 5-64 receiving line on 7 targets. TE Greg Dulcich grabbed the team's only TD among 4 catches for 39 on 8 targets. Denver closes out the fantasy football season (in most leagues) at Kansas City. Denver tallied 263 yards and 4 TDs passing in the Week 14 meeting with the Chiefs, who have been a slightly positive scoring matchup for WRs but strongly positive for QBs.
Broncos TE Greg Dulcich was knocked out in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Rams with a hamstring injury. He caught 4 of 8 targets for 39 yards and a score before exiting. We'll see if the rookie can make it back for Week 17's meeting with the Chiefs.
Buccaneers S Antoine Winfield Jr. (ankle), S Keanu Neal (toe) and S Mike Edwards (hamstring) are active for tonight's game against the Cardinals. If you waited on any of them, use as planned in your IDP lineups.
Cardinals WR Marquise Brown (groin) is active for tonight's game against the Buccaneers. We'd still bet on some elevated risk after the groin issue limited his Thursday and Friday practices. The bigger limitation might be 3rd-string QB Trace McSorley, who has completed just 46.2% of his 39 career passes in the NFL. Try to not use Brown in fantasy football lineups if you can help it. He sits relatively low in our Week 16 WR rankings.
Buccaneers WR Julio Jones (knee) is active for tonight's game against the Cardinals. He remained limited in practice all week after missing last Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Jones is tough to bet on for fantasy football lineups. His return challenges the role of WR Russell Gage, who led the Bucs in targets last week and scored twice.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle used an 84-yard TD to power a 5-143-1 receiving line in Sunday's loss to the Packers. He and WR Tyreek Hill tied for the team lead with 6 targets apiece. Hill caught 4 balls for 103, including a 52-yard reception. It's Waddle's 2nd straight game over 100 yards, but there's some luck involved in delivering plays of 67+ in each contest. Waddle posted a nice catch rate against Green Bay but had caught just 42.3% of targets over the previous 4 games. His QB has struggled over the past 4 weeks relative to previous performance. Both wideouts will be in fantasy football lineups in most cases for a Week 17 trip to New England, in spite of QB Tua Tagovailoa's recent performance.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa wound up with 310 yards and a TD in Sunday's loss to the Packers, but his performance proved much worse than that. Nearly half of those yards came on 2 completions: an 84-yard TD to WR Jaylen Waddle and 52-yarder to Tyreek Hill. Tagovailoa went just 16 for 25 overall and tossed 3 INTs -- the last of which sealing the defeat on Miami's final possession. The 3rd-year QB's performance has dipped over the current 4-game losing streak. He entered Sunday's game off just 49.5% completions over his previous 3. Tagovailoa will make for a risk-reward option at New England in Week 17. He currently sits just inside the top 12 of our Week 17 QB rankings but is not a lock to stay there.
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 238 yards and 1 TD on 24-of-38 passing in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. His 13.3 fantasy points (by ESPN scoring) is good for 13th among QBs on the week, at least, with 3 games left to go. Rodgers hit TE Marcedes Lewis for his only score and threw 1 INT. Rodgers figures to land in mid-QB2 range for a Week 17 matchup with the Vikings. Minnesota sits top-10 as a QB-scoring matchup but hasn't been as friendly to the position as the Dolphins have. WR Allen Lazard led the Packers with 11 targets at Miami, catching 5 for 61 yards. WR Christian Watson caught a team-high 6 passes before leaving with a hip injury.
Packers RB AJ Dillon rushed 11 times for 36 yards (3.3 per carry) and claimed Green Bay's only rushing score in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. He added 2 catches for 12 yards among 3 targets. RB Aaron Jones carried only 6 times for 25 yards (4.2) and added just 9 yards on 2 receptions. The 34 total yards were a season low for him. Week 17 brings a rematch with the soft Vikings defense. Jones tallied just 76 total yards on 8 touches in their Week 1 meeting. Dillon went 10-45-1 rushing and 5-46 receiving in that contest. Both Green Bay RBs will be in play for fantasy use against what has been a mid-pack scoring matchup for the position.
Broncos WR Courtland Sutton (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Rams. It’ll be his first action since Week 13.
Broncos RB Latavius Murray (foot) is active for today’s game vs. the Rams. He got in 2 limited practices this week and was listed as questionable, but we haven’t heard anything about him being limited in this one.
Packers WR Christian Watson suffered a hip injury in Sunday's game at Miami. He's questionable to return. We'll keep an eye out for updates.
QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is now more likely to play vs. the Saints next weekend after the Eagles' loss in Dallas, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Philly still needs 1 more win to lock up the top seed in the NFC. "My understanding is that there's a real chance Jalen Hurts, who's considered day-to-day with this injury, pushes to play" against New Orleans, Rapoport says. We'll track Hurts' status throughout this coming week.
Dolphins EDGE Jaelan Phillips (knee) and S Eric Rowe (hamstring) are active for today's game against the Packers.
Dolphins Jeff Wilson Jr. (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Packers. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so it’s unclear how big a role he’ll play in this one. Consider Wilson a risk/reward RB3 in the plus matchup. RB Raheem Mostert remains the best bet in Miami’s backfield. RB Myles Gaskin is a healthy scratch.
Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth tallied 7 catches for 66 yards among 8 targets in Saturday night's win over the Raiders. The numbers marked a big rebound from his target-less Week 15 at Carolina. It was Freiermuth's most targets and receptions since Week 11. The TE trailed only RB Najee Harris in targets for the game. WR Diontae Johnson added 5-64 receiving on 7 looks. WR George Pickens caught all 5 of his targets for 57 yards and the go-ahead TD. Pittsburgh gets a Week 17 rematch with Baltimore, which has played the run much tougher than the pass for most of the season.
Steelers RB Najee Harris totaled 95 yards in Saturday night's win over the Raiders. He managed just 53 yards on 16 carries (3.3 per rush) but added 6 receptions for 42 yards on a team-high 9 targets. The targets also marked a season high for Harris, with his receptions tying a season high and his yardage a new personal best. RB Jaylen Warren chimed in just 6-23 rushing and 2-7 receiving on 2 targets. Harris gets a difficult rushing matchup with the Ravens in Week 17. He managed only 33 yards on 12 carries in a Week 14 loss to the division rival.
