Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Bucs RB Gio Bernard suffered a "slight" MCL sprain on his garbage-time TD in Sunday's loss to the Rams, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. Bernard is considered "day to day," but his status for this weekend's game vs. the Patriots is "TBD," per Pelissero. We'll keep an eye on Bernard's status this week. His absence would free up passing-down work -- likely for RB Leonard Fournette.

Chargers S Derwin James left Sunday's game at Kansas City with a separated shoulder, but the issue didn't keep him out long. “Derwin is like, ‘Yeah, my shoulder just dislocated,’ acting like it wasn’t anything,” teammate Joey Bosa told the Los Angeles Times on Monday. “But his shoulder actually came out of the socket and he just popped it back in and came running right back out on the field.” James wound up missing just 7 of 79 defensive snaps for the game. And it looks like IDP fantasy players have nothing to worry about going forward.

Rams HC Sean McVay said Monday that RB Darrell Henderson (ribs) is making good progress and that he's "hopeful" Henderson will be back for this weekend's game vs. the Cardinals. Sony Michel got feature-back usage with Henderson out Week 3, racking up 20 carries and 4 targets. Michel will be a top 20 fantasy play in Week 4 if Henderson remains sidelined.

Bucs WR Scotty Miller will miss “a significant amount of time" with a toe injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Rams, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. If you had Miller stashed in a redraft league, you can drop him. WR Antonio Brown (COVID) should be back for Week 4. But if he's not, Tyler Johnson would have #3 WR duties to himself.

Titans WR A.J. Brown is considered "week to week" with the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday's win over the Colts, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. So it sounds like fantasy owners should at least plan to be without Brown for Week 4. We'll see about his availability beyond that.

Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster has been diagnosed with bruised ribs and is considered "day to day," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. We'll keep an eye on Smith-Schuster's practice participation this week, but it sounds like he has a chance to play vs. the Packers on Sunday.

Ravens WR Rashod Bateman (core) will return to practice this week, HC John Harbaugh said. The rookie is eligible to come off IR for Week 4, although he might not be ready to play after being sidelined since mid-August. Bateman is a fine stash in deeper fantasy leagues, but don't plan on using him in your starting lineup for at least a couple more weeks.

Patriots RB James White is "out indefinitely" after suffering a hip subluxation in Sunday's loss to the Saints, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's the same injury Washington QB Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered in Week 1. We'll look for a more concrete timetable for White's return, but it sounds like he's at least headed to short-term IR. White is droppable in shallower fantasy leagues. Brandon Bolden stepped in as New England's lead passing-down back in Week 3, but we'll see what the Patriots do this coming week. RB Damien Harris could pick up more passing-game work -- or New England could use a bit more of RBs J.J. Taylor or Rhamondre Stevenson.

WR Josh Gordon is planning to sign with the Chiefs, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. It's bullish news for Gordon because of the landing spot, of course -- but also because he signed just a few days after being reinstated. That suggests there was plenty of interest in the 30-year-old. Gordon hasn't played since December 2019, so he's a total wild card. But this landing spot makes him worth a potential stash at least in deeper fantasy leagues.

Update: Gordon is being signed to Kansas City's practice squad for now, "with the goal of elevating him at some point when he gets up to speed," per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Giants LB Blake Martinez tore his left ACL in Sunday's loss to the Falcons and will miss the rest of the season. That leaves Tae Crowder as the apparent top LB. He played 61 of 62 defensive snaps against Atlanta and led the team with 11 tackles (plus a pass defensed). Reggie Ragland came on for 65% playing time. The Giants might also consider altering S Jabrill Peppers' role, with Martinez down. Peppers has seen his playing time sag amid struggles in coverage, but he would offer above-average speed at LB and spent a season at the position at the end of college. Martinez will still be just 28 when next season begins, but his contract plus the injury could leave the Giants with an offseason decision to make. The final year on his deal carries a $14.2 million cap hit, according to Spotrac, vs. $5.5 million in dead money if New York trades or releases Martinez.

Panthers HC Matt Rhule confirmed Monday that RB Christian McCaffrey won't be going to IR with his hamstring injury. That means the team believes there's at least a reasonable chance he's ready by Week 6. We'll keep you updated on his rehab progress.

Broncos WR K.J. Hamler suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's win over the Jets and will miss the rest of the season, insider Mike Klis reports. The timing of the injury gives Hamler a good chance to be ready for the start of the 2022 campaign, but durability is a significant concern here after Hamler struggled staying healthy at Penn State and as a rookie. With WR Jerry Jeudy still expected to miss a few more weeks, Denver is down to WRs Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick, Diontae Spencer and Kendall Hinton for now.

The Panthers are set to trade TE Dan Arnold and a 3rd-round pick to the Jaguars in exchange for CB C.J. Henderson, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Henderson was the 9th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft but has obviously fallen out of favor in Jacksonville. It's a good pickup for the Panthers, who just lost rookie CB Jaycee Horn to a broken foot. Meanwhile, Arnold will have a good shot to emerge as the lead TE for a Jaguars team in desperate need of help at the position. Arnold will be worth monitoring -- but we'd only be adding him in deep fantasy leagues at this point. Carolina is left with Ian Thomas and rookie Tommy Tremble at TE.

Titans WR Julio Jones played just 50% of the offensive snaps in the win over the Colts, finishing with 3 catches on 4 targets for 47 yards. HC Mike Vrabel wouldn't say in his post-game presser whether Jones was injured. "Just trying to manage where he's at," Vrabel said. We'll see if Jones pops up on this week's injury report.

Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling injured his hamstring in the 4th quarter of Sunday night's game vs. the 49ers. He's officially questionable to return, but we'd be surprised to see him back out there after he pulled up gimpy at the end of a deep route.

Jets TE Tyler Kroft was knocked out of Sunday's loss to the Broncos with a rib injury. We’ll look for an update on his situation on Monday

Chargers QB Justin Herbert's right (throwing) hand was wrapped and iced after Sunday's win over the Chiefs, according to NFL Network's James Palmer. Herbert was able to play through the issue, and Palmer confirms that the post-game treatment was "most likely precaution." But this will be a situation to monitor this coming week.

Jets WR Elijah Moore sustained a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Broncos. We'll monitor his progress through the protocol. Of course, the rookie isn't a bankable fantasy option right now with the Jets offense struggling badly.

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) is inactive for tonight’s game vs. the Packers. That leaves Trey Sermon, Trenton Cannon, Kerryon Johnson and Jacques Patrick as San Francisco’s active RBs. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported this morning that Sermon will get the "bulk of carries" tonight.

Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett appeared to injure his knee in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game in Minnesota. He was able to get off the field under his own power. Stay tuned for an update.

Update: Lockett was able to return to the game.
