Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Steelers WR Calvin Austin sustained a concussion in Sunday's game vs. the Bengals. He caught both of his targets for 29 yards and a score before exiting. We'll track Austin's progress through the protocol this coming week. His absence should mean more snaps for WR Mike Williams.

Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair got ejected in the first half of Sunday's game against the Jaguars after he hit a sliding Trevor Lawrence in the head. We'll see whether hit costs Al-Shaair further time via league suspension.

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Ravens. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, so we’re tentatively expecting him back for Week 14. WR Johnny Wilson (hamstring) is also out today, leaving Philadelphia thin at WR. It’ll be Jahan Dotson, Britain Covey, Parris Campbell, and Ainias Smith behind A.J. Brown. Brown and TE Dallas Goedert should soak up a ton of Eagles targets today.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence sustained an apparent concussion in the second quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars. He took a shot to the head at the end of slide and banged his head against the field. This would be Lawrence's second documented concussion. He'll be replaced by QB Mac Jones.

Cardinals S Jalen Thompson is active for today's game against the Vikings. That'll mark his return after missing the past two contests with an ankle sprain. Thompson remained limited in practice this week, so there's likely still some risk. But HC Jonathan Gannon said he looked good in practice this week. Thompson should be OK for normal IDP use.

Bengals LB Logan Wilson is inactive for today's game against the Steelers. That leaves Germaine Pratt as the lead LB and Akeem Davis-Gaither as the likely No. 2. It'll be just the second time this season that Wilson has not played every snap in a game, which makes it tough to know just how much playing time Davis Gaither will get. He's a shaky bet at this stage of the season -- albeit with some upside.

Falcons K Younghoe Koo (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Chargers. He was added to the injury report on Thursday but put in a full practice on Friday. Between the hip issue and the Chargers’ second-ranked kicker defense, we’d look elsewhere for a Week 13 fantasy kicker.

Titans RB Tyjae Spears (concussion) is active for today’s game vs. the Commanders. He’s topped 10 touches in just one of seven games this season and is no better than a low-end RB3 or Flex in PPR leagues. But Spears’ return does put a dent in RB Tony Pollard’s volume projection.

Patriots WR Demario Douglas (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Colts. He was limited in practice all week, but we never heard anything to suggest he was in danger of missing this one. Douglas remains a fine WR4 in PPR leagues.

Colts WR Alec Pierce (foot) is active for today’s game vs. the Patriots. He missed the first two practices of the week but returned to a full workout on Friday. With WRs Josh Downs (shoulder) and Ashton Dulin (ankle) out, Pierce, Michael Pittman, and Adonai Mitchell are locked in as the top three WRs against New England’s 20th-ranked WR defense.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) is active for today’s game vs. the Texans. He’ll be playing through a significant AC joint injury to his left shoulder that might eventually require surgery. Lawrence would be a shaky start even in superflex leagues. But his return is good news for WR Brian Thomas Jr. and TE Evan Engram.

Jets RB Breece Hall (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Seahawks. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so we’re not expecting the knee to be a major issue today.

Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) has an appointment with his surgeon in a couple of weeks to gain final clearance, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. If all goes well, he could return by Week 16 or 17, per Rapoport. Brown has been sidelined since suffering an SC joint injury in a preseason game on August 10. He wound up getting surgery in mid-September. We'll continue to keep an eye on his status and Kansas City's plans for him. But Brown would be very tough to trust in fantasy lineups in his first game or two back. We'd expect the Chiefs to slowly ramp him up in hopes of having him contribute in the playoffs. Brown is a fine stash if you have a bench spot to play with, but don't consider him a priority add.

Patriots WR Demario Douglas (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Colts today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Douglas was limited in practice all week, but we never sensed any real concern about his availability for this one. Douglas remains a fine WR4 play in PPR leagues.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that there's "not a lot of optimism" that WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) will be able to play vs. the Ravens this afternoon. Smith "may work out on Sunday to see if he can go," Rapoport adds. We won't get Philadelphia's inactives until a little before 3 pm ET. So, barring a more positive report, Smith should be on fantasy benches. His absence boosts the target projections on WR A.J. Brown and TE Dallas Goedert.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Jets RB Breece Hall (knee) is expected to play vs. the Seahawks today. Hall got in a full practice on Friday and said afterward that he'd be ready for this one. He's safe to keep in Week 13 fantasy lineups.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that 49ers QB Brock Purdy (shoulder) is expected to start tonight's game vs. the Bills. Purdy progressed to a full practice on Friday and has not experienced any setbacks since, per Schefter. Purdy's return is excellent news for San Francisco's offense. But we'd try not to use Purdy in 1-QB leagues with the shoulder issue and a tough matchup against the Bills in what's expected to be a cold and potentially snowy game. The 49ers are still implied for only 19.25 points.

Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins (knee) has been placed on IR. Dobbins is dealing with an MCL sprain and will now miss at least the next four games. He'll be eligible to return for Week 17's meeting vs. the Patriots. You could keep Dobbins stashed for that one, but he's droppable if you're in a pinch. Dobbins' absence should leave RB Gus Edwards as Los Angeles' lead ball carrier, but we're expecting him to cede most passing-down snaps to RBs Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal.

The Commanders placed RB Austin Ekeler (concussion) on IR, knocking him out for at least the next four games. Washington has a Week 14 bye, so we won't see Ekeler again until Week 18 at the earliest. He can be dropped from all redraft rosters. Jeremy McNichols will slide in as the Commanders' No. 2 RB with Ekeler out, but we could also see RB Brian Robinson get more work in the passing game.

Colts WR Alec Pierce (foot) is expected to play vs. the Patriots tomorrow, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder. Pierce missed the first two practices of the week but returned to a full workout on Friday. He should be ready for his usual role in a matchup against the league's 20th-ranked WR defense -- and could see extra volume with WR Josh Downs out.
