Brandon Aiyuk Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk was a no-show for Wednesday's practice. The team had been understanding of Aiyuk's hold-in during training camp but wanted him back on the field on Wednesday as prep starts for Week 1.

The Steelers and 49ers have a deal on a potential trade and a new contract is in a good place for Aiyuk, the 49ers just need to sign off to get the deal done. The 49ers appear to be waiting on their contract offer to Aiyuk in hopes he will accept.

49ers WR Ricky Pearsall is officially off of the Active/NFI list. He appears recovered from his hamstring injury and is participating in training camp.

49ers reporter David Lombardi observed WR Ricky Pearsall (hamstring) running off to the side of practice “at what looks like full speed.” Lombardi expects the rookie to return to practice next week.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has requested a trade, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports. Aiyuk is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has been angling for an extension all offseason. A recent meeting between Aiyuk's camp and the 49ers produced no progress toward that extension, according to Garafolo. That prompted Aiyuk to make this trade request.

WR Brandon Aiyuk indicated a couple times over the past week that he's likely to remain with the 49ers for at least the 2024 season. He first said on The Pivot podcast about what jersey he'll be wearing, "If I were to take a guess, probably a Niners uniform." Aiyuk later told TMZ he's "for sure" ready to play in San Francisco this season. The wideout remains under contract through 2024, but the two sides have reportedly stalled out in negotiations on an extension beyond that. Aiyuk has fueled trade rumors with negative takes via social media about his relationship with the team.

49ers GM John Lynch and HC Kyle Shanahan talked about WR Ricky Pearsall as a guy they believe can contribute right away. “(Pearsall) just plays the position real well, whether he was outside, inside, all three positions,” Shanahan said in his post-draft press conference. “He can separate down the field, he can separate underneath, extremely good hands. … There’s nothing he can’t do." It sure sounds like the Pearsall pick was made with the expectation that WR Brandon Aiyuk or WR Deebo Samuel will be traded. Insider Michael Silver tweeted late Thursday night that he's heard Samuel is more likely to be traded at this point. Shipping away either guy would be excellent news for Pearsall's dynasty value -- and turn him into an interesting 2024 redraft pick.

49ers QB Sam Darnold will start Sunday's regular-season finale vs. the Rams, HC Kyle Shanahan announced Wednesday. QB Brock Purdy will join RB Christian McCaffrey on the sidelines for that one after San Francisco locked up the NFC's No. 1 seed. WR Deebo Samuel, WR Brandon Aiyuk, and TE George Kittle are unlikely to play much, if at all, against the Rams.

49ers QB Brock Purdy went off for 333 yards and 3 TDs in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay. He posted a perfect 158.3 QB rating while spreading scores to Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey. Purdy should make his way onto plenty of championship squads, as long as this offense stays healthy. His rest-of-season schedule only includes one negative matchup – Week 16 vs. Baltimore.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel returned from a hairline fracture in his shoulder to post 59 total yards and 1 score vs. Jacksonville. His TD came from 23 yards out on a well-blocked end around. Samuel saw only 4 targets, tied for second on the team behind Christian McCaffrey (10). But he added 3 carries, his average rushing workload on the season. Samuel’s fantasy value figures to fluctuate going forward, as long as both Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle stay healthy. Still, there’s a clear top-15 ceiling here. San Francisco’s upcoming schedule ranks second best for fantasy WRs.

Niners WR Brandon Aiyuk tallied 5 receptions for 109 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. His 9 targets ranked second on the team, while he accounted for 29.9% of the team's receiving yards. It was Aiyuk's third game of the season with 100+ yards. The 9 targets were his second-most this season. We'll see whether WR Deebo Samuel can get back onto the field after the Week 9 bye and how that affects target shares.

49ers TE George Kittle hauled 5 of 7 targets for a team-leading 78 receiving yards in Week 7’s loss vs. the Vikings. Consistent fantasy production from the veteran has been hard to come by this season, but Kittle stepped up to the plate well in the absence of his teammate WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder). WR Brandon Aiyuk also broke double-digit PPR points on Monday night, logging 5 catches for 57 yards. Both Kittle and Aiyuk will be quality starting options in Week 8 vs. the Bengals.

If you stuck it out with 49ers TE George Kittle through his rough go to begin the season, congratulations. The veteran found the end zone three times on Sunday to go along with 3 receptions and a team-leading 67 receiving yards. His teammate Brandon Aiyuk saw a team-high 7 targets in the contest but was only able to convert those opportunities into 4 catches for 58 yards. This 49ers offense is an incredibly efficient unit thus far in 2023. We’ll be excited to throw these guys back into lineups in Week 6 vs. the Browns.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) is not listed on the final Week 4 injury report. He put in a full practice on Friday and seems ready to play his usual role vs. the Cardinals this weekend. With WR Deebo Samuel banged up, Aiyuk should be in for plenty of volume.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) remained limited in Thursday's practice but was out of his non-contact jersey, according to The Athletic's David Lombardi. Aiyuk is trending toward returning for this weekend's game vs. the Cardinals. We'll see how he's listed on the final injury report tomorrow.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He was seemingly close to playing last Thursday night, so we're tentatively expecting him back for this weekend's game vs. the Cardinals.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) is officially inactive for tonight's game vs. the Giants. He seemed relatively close to playing tonight, so we're tentatively expecting him back for Week 4. Aiyuk's absence should make San Francisco's offense even more concentrated, with RB Christian McCaffrey, WR Deebo Samuel, and TE George Kittle dominating touches.
