Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Saints QB Jameis Winston is playing today with 4 fractures in his back, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports. "Playing in a lot of pain with extra padding to protect the area," Glazer adds. This obviously adds risk to Winston's fantasy profile. We'll see how he holds up vs. the Bucs today.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo says Bills WR Gabriel Davis is "very much in question" for Monday night's game vs. the Titans. Davis sprained his ankle on a non-contact play in Saturday's practice, per Garafolo. Unless you have another strong option in 1 of the 2 Monday night games to replace Davis, we'd lean toward putting him on your bench this week.
Ravens CBs Marlon Humphrey (groin) and Marcus Peters (knee) are active for today's game against the Dolphins.
Dolphins DT Christian Wilkins (back) is active for today's game against the Ravens. Use him as planned in IDP lineups.
Patriots S Adrian Phillips (ribs) and LB Raekwon McMillan (thumb) are active for today's game against the Steelers. Neither is a high-level IDP play.
Colts DT DeForest Buckner and CB Kenny Moore are both active for today's game against the Jaguars. Each player turned up questionable with a hip injury but is in play for IDP lineups.
Commanders S Kamren Curl (thumb) is out for today's game against the Lions. It'll be his 2nd straight missed game. Darrick Forest had a nice outing in Curl's place in Week 1 and is a viable IDP option. DT Jonathan Allen (groin) is active. Originally listed without a game status on the final injury report, Allen got added as questionable over the weekend. There might be elevated risk to using him in IDP lineups, though injuries to the Detroit O-line counter with upside.
Lions RB D’Andre Swift (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Commanders. He played through this injury last week but only got in a limited practice on Friday this week. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said this morning that the Lions “may have to be selective about his usage” today. See where Swift sits in the Week 2 RB Rankings.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara (rib) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Bucs. We’ll see if he can make it back for Week 3. RB Mark Ingram (ankle) is active and should operate as New Orleans’ lead back today. He finished RB10 and RB13 in half-PPR points in 2 starts in place of Kamara last year. But his ankle issue and a tough matchup leave him in RB3 territory in the Week 2 Rankings. RBs Tony Jones and Dwayne Washington are also active for the Saints.
Saints QB Jameis Winston (back) is active for today’s game vs. the Bucs. We’re not expecting the back to be an issue today. This should be a pass-heavy gameplan from New Orleans, but RB Alvin Kamara’s absence strips Winston of 1 of his top weapons.
Bucs RB Leonard Fournette (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Saints. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so there’s some added risk here. But you’d need to be loaded at RB to bench Fournette this week. He’s in for 20+ touches as long as that hammy holds up.
Bucs WR Russell Gage (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Saints. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday after sitting out on Wednesday. Although Gage still isn’t at 100%, he has upside today with WRs Chris Godwin and Julio Jones out.
Bucs WR Mike Evans (calf) is active for today’s game vs. the Saints. He only got in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday this week, although the calf issue is reportedly minor.
Bucs WR Julio Jones (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Saints. He’s reportedly dealing with a bone bruise. We’ll see if Jones can make it back for Week 3.
Jets TE C.J. Uzomah (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Browns. He played just 23 snaps and ran 11 pass routes in the opener, so there’s minimal fantasy impact here.
Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. He was a full participant in practice all week, but the team continues to be super cautious with his return from last August’s multi-ligament knee injury. We’ll see if Dobbins returns for Week 3. Kenyan Drake figures to operate as Baltimore’s lead back today after tallying 11 carries and 1 target in the opener.
Giants WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Panthers. We’ll see if he can top the 7 snaps he played in the opener, but Toney is nowhere near a viable Week 2 fantasy play.
The Jets continue to target a Week 4 return for QB Zach Wilson (knee), according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Wilson got in 3 limited practices this week and threw before Sunday's game in Cleveland. We'll continue to track his progress.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport calls Chargers QB Justin Herbert's fractured rib cartilage "much more of a pain-tolerance issue than something he could hurt even worse by playing." Herbert has a "chance" to play vs. the Jaguars next Sunday if he can deal with the pain, Rapoport adds. We'll continue to keep a close eye on Herbert's status.
Saints insider Mike Triplett believes RB Mark Ingram might "split work" with RB Tony Jones vs. the Bucs today. "Normally I’d recommend Mark Ingram as a strong fantasy play with Alvin Kamara out. But this week I think Ingram is a risky fantasy option since he was limited by his own injury all week and Saints are facing Tampa Bay’s stout run D," Triplett writes. We're still expecting Ingram to lead the backfield in snaps and touches today, but he looks like just a low-end RB3 or flex play.
