Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Rams WR Puka Nacua (knee) is officially active for tonight's game vs. the Vikings. It'll be his first action since Week 1. Nacua just returned to practice on Tuesday. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported a couple of hours ago that the Rams wouldn't decide until pregame warmups how much Nacua will play tonight. We'll look for any further updates on that front, but it's a good bet that he'll be on some type of snap count. As of now, we'd lean toward sitting Nacua in most cases. His receiving line prop on most sportsbooks is set around 29.5 yards.
Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson has been downgraded to out for tonight's game vs. the Rams. He's been practicing for a couple of weeks now and seems very close to making his 2024 debut. We're expecting him to play vs. the Colts in Week 9, although there's still a decent chance he's on a snap count in that one.
Rams WR Puka Nacua (knee) has been activated from IR, setting him up to play vs. the Vikings tonight. It's a major surprise considering Nacua got in just two limited practices this week -- his first two since going down way back in Week 1. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero suggested this morning that Nacua would likely be on a snap count if he played tonight, which certainly makes sense. His fantasy floor and ceiling are significantly lower than usual for Week 8, but he might still make sense as a starter for your team. Check your Team Intel tool to see how Nacua stacks up against the rest of your players this week.
Panthers WR Diontae Johnson (rib) missed his second straight practice on Thursday. His previous ankle and hamstring injuries are off this week's injury report, and Johnson played through this rib issue last week. We're still expecting him to suit up for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos, but check back tomorrow to see how he's listed on the final injury report
Colts WR Josh Downs (toe, groin) returned to a full practice on Thursday. He'll play vs. the Texans this weekend but is a shaky fantasy starter with QB Anthony Richardson under center. Downs has posted 3-22-0 and 1-3-0 receiving lines in two games with Richardson this season.
Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice. He's on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Texans. RBs sometimes struggle in their first game or two back from high-ankle sprains, and Houston ranks third in adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs. So Taylor sits lower than usual in the Week 8 RB rankings, but he still belongs in most fantasy lineups.
Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (rib) will not practice on Thursday, but the team is planning to get him onto the field on Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. How Daniels fares in that workout figures to determine his status for this weekend's game vs. the Bears. Check back tomorrow for an update on the rookie. For now, we'd still plan on not having him for Week 8 fantasy lineups.
We chuckled when the Rams listed WR Puka Nacua (knee) as questionable for Thursday night's game vs. the Vikings. He's practiced just twice -- Tuesday and Wednesday -- since going down in Week 1. But, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, "there is now optimism" that Nacua could play Minnesota.
The Rams have ruled LB Troy Reeder (hamstring) out for Thursday night's game against the Vikings. That'll leave the defense without its top LB. It's not clear who will take over his spot, next to Christian Rozeboom. Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic said Wednesday that she expects to see both Jake Hummel and Omar Speights "get a shot." Rams DC reportedly said the team is "working through" who'll wear the green helmet dot and relay defensive play calls. Rozeboom looks like the only usable Rams LBs in IDP leagues. DL Braden Fiske (back) is questionable for the game as well. We'll check his status Thursday evening.
The Vikings have ruled LB Blake Cashman out for the second straight game with a toe injury. His absence means full playing time for LB Ivan Pace Jr. No other non-edge Minnesota LB played more than 16% of defensive snaps last week, though. We'll see about Cashman's outlook for a Week 9 home date with the Colts.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (illness, wrist) did not practice on Wednesday. He did do some individual conditioning drills, though, according to Bay Area News Group's Cam Inman. HC Kyle Shanahan said that Samuel is "doing better than you'd expect" and "has a chance" to play vs. the Cowboys on Sunday night. WR Jauan Jennings (hip) also missed Wednesday's practice and remains iffy for the Dallas game. We'll update both guys again on Thursday.
49ers TE George Kittle (foot) did not practice on Wednesday. HC Kyle Shanahan labeled him "day to day" on Monday, but Kittle's availability for Sunday night's game vs. the Cowboys is up in the air. We'll see if he gets back on the field tomorrow.
Cowboys K Brandon Aubrey did not practice on Wednesday because he was on jury duty. Seriously. According to Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Nick Harris, Aubrey was chosen to be on a jury for a felony assault case. He'll be in court on Thursday and Friday but is expected to be available for Sunday night's game vs. the 49ers. He can stay in Week 8 fantasy lineups for now. We'll let you know if anything changes with his status.
Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (rib) did not practice on Wednesday. While he's reportedly not dealing with a long-term injury, most signs point to him missing this weekend's game vs. the Bears. That'd put QB Marcus Mariota under center for his first start since 2022. Mariota played well against a bad Panthers defense last weekend but would face a much tougher test vs. the Bears.
Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers (ankle) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. It was his first practice since the Friday before Week 6. We'll see if Meyers can make it back for Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs. When healthy, he should be at least a WR3 option for fantasy squads. He totaled 19 targets in two games without WR Davante Adams this year.
Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported this morning that Metcalf is "hopeful" to play vs. the Bills this weekend. But, for now, fantasy owners should not plan on having him for Week 8 lineups. We'll keep you updated on Metcalf's status leading up to Sunday. If he misses the Bills game, WR Jake Bobo will likely soak up most of his snaps.
Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. He missed Monday night's loss to the Cardinals and is seemingly in danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Saints. WR Simi Fehoko stepped into Johnston's spot vs. the Cardinals, catching three of six targets for 45 yards.
Saints TE Taysom Hill (rib) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He should have a good chance to return for this weekend's game vs. the Chargers, but we'll keep tabs on his status leading up to that one. The Saints could certainly use Hill's spark on offense. If he plays, he'll be a TD-dependent fantasy option in half-PPR and especially non-PPR leagues.
Saints WR Chris Olave (concussion) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. He should be tracking toward a return for this weekend's game vs. the Chargers, but nothing's a given when it comes to concussions. We'll keep you updated on Olave's progress over the next few days.
Saints QB Derek Carr (oblique) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice. HC Dennis Allen said afterward that QB Spencer Rattler will likely start this weekend's game vs. the Chargers. We're tentatively expecting Carr back for Week 9.
