Christian McCaffrey Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Niners HC Kyle Shanahan confirmed Monday that RB Christian McCaffrey will miss at least the rest of the regular season with the PCL injury in his right knee. He also revealed that RB Jordan Mason will head to IR with a high-ankle sprain.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said after Sunday night's loss to the Bills that RB Christian McCaffrey has a PCL injury that could be season-ending. McCaffrey will likely undergo additional testing on Monday to get a better look at the damage. We should get another update on his status over the next 24 hours. McCaffrey's absence would leave Jordan Mason as San Francisco's lead back once again. He out-carried RB Isaac Guerendo 13 to four in Buffalo. Mason, who's rostered in only 37% of Sleeper leagues, is the top target on waiver wires this week.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey exited in the second quarter of Sunday night's game vs. the Bills with an apparent right leg injury. He went down on his own with no contact. We'll update his status when we know more.

Update: McCaffrey is officially questionable to return with a knee injury.

Update: McCaffrey won't return, HC Kyle Shanahan said in an interview before the second half started.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (shoulder) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Bills. He had a good week by all accounts, progressing to a full practice on Friday. There’s still elevated risk to using Purdy in fantasy lineups with the throwing shoulder issue, though. And the spot is tough against the Bills’ ninth-ranked QB defense in wintery Buffalo. Purdy is not a recommended QB1 play – but his return is good news for San Francisco’s skill-position players. QB Brandon Allen is inactive as the emergency third QB tonight, leaving QB Josh Dobbs as the backup.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that 49ers QB Brock Purdy (shoulder) is expected to start tonight's game vs. the Bills. Purdy progressed to a full practice on Friday and has not experienced any setbacks since, per Schefter. Purdy's return is excellent news for San Francisco's offense. But we'd try not to use Purdy in 1-QB leagues with the shoulder issue and a tough matchup against the Bills in what's expected to be a cold and potentially snowy game. The 49ers are still implied for only 19.25 points.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game vs. the Bills. But he put in a full practice on Friday, and HC Kyle Shanahan said afterward that Purdy is on track to play. “Lots of things can happen between now and then, but right now he's playing,” Shanahan said. We'll look for further updates on Purdy's status. But between the injury to his throwing shoulder and the matchup with Buffalo's ninth-ranked QB defense, Purdy is not a recommended QB1 play this week. San Francisco is currently implied for only 19.25 points -- tied for fifth fewest on the week.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (shoulder) remains uncertain for Sunday night's game vs. the Bills, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Purdy was "very limited" in Wednesday's practice, Rapoport adds. "Probably needs to improve just a little bit to be able to get on the field" against the Bills. QB Brandon Allen mustered just 199 passing yards and one TD on 6.9 yards per attempt last week and would be a big downgrade for San Francisco's offense if he starts again.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (shoulder) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Packers. His injured right shoulder evidently didn't progress throughout the week as the team had hoped. GM John Lynch said Friday that an MRI on the shoulder didn't show anything concerning, so we're not expecting this to be a long-term absence. But Purdy's absence this weekend leaves QB Brandon Allen as San Francisco's expected starter. Allen has been with the 'Niners since May 2023 but has not attempted a regular-season pass for them. He completed just 57% of his passes at 6.1 yards per attempt in limited action for the Broncos and Bengals from 2019-2022. Allen is clearly a significant downgrade for all San Francisco pass catchers. Expect the team to lean heavily on RB Christian McCaffrey on Sunday.

49ers GM John Lynch said Friday morning that QB Brock Purdy had an MRI on his right shoulder. "Feel good about where it is from that standpoint," Lynch said. But he stopped short of saying that Purdy will play vs. the Packers this weekend. "Brock will show up here today, see where he goes from practice, go forth accordingly," Lynch said. He added that QB Brandon Allen would get the start if Purdy is out but that QB Josh Dobbs would also "be ready." We'll update Purdy's status again this afternoon.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey ran 19 times for 79 yards and caught four of five targets for 27 yards. McCaffrey didn’t find the end zone, being bottled up for much of the game by the Seahawks defense.

49ers TE George Kittle (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Seahawks. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said this morning that Kittle will have a “realistic chance” to make it back for Week 12. His absence today leaves Eric Saubert as San Francisco’s lead TE. He’d be a desperation fantasy play. RB Christian McCaffrey and WRs Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings, and Ricky Pearsall should pick up extra targets with Kittle out.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey totaled 19 touches and 107 yards in Sunday’s win over Tampa Bay. He played over 80% of the snaps in his 2024 debut.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is officially active for today’s game against the Buccaneers. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. And ESPN’s Adam Schefter said this morning that CMC should be “full force” today. Get him in Week 10 starting lineups.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said on NFL Countdown that RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) "will be out there in full force" vs. the Buccaneers today. "The 49ers thought they were gonna give him half the work today. But with the way that he's looked in practice the last two weeks, I think their expectations rose," Schefter added. McCaffrey belongs in all Week 10 fantasy lineups and is a strong DFS tournament play.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) will play vs. the Buccaneers today. "The team believes McCaffrey could have played last week," Schefter adds. The news has been all positive on McCaffrey for a while now. We'll keep an eye out for any updates on his expected workload today. But, as of now, we're projecting him to play something close to his normal role.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Buccaneers. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. HC Kyle Shanahan said again on Friday that McCaffrey is fully expected to play against Tampa Bay. We’ll keep an eye out for any reports on his expected workload in his 2024 debut. But unless we hear that his touches will be very limited, McCaffrey belongs in Week 10 fantasy lineups. RB Jordan Mason (shoulder) is off the final injury report and will also play vs. the Bucs.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan confirmed Thursday that RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is expected to play vs. the Bucs this weekend. It's the first time we've heard that from Shanny. McCaffrey remained limited in Thursday's practice but continues to avoid setbacks. Now we wait for any hints about his workload in his 2024 debut. Barring something extreme, though, McCaffrey should be in Week 10 starting lineups.
