Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Ravens RB Gus Edwards took over the backfield Sunday against the Jaguars, in his return from a hamstring injury. He handled a team-high 16 carries, 84.2% of the team's RB rushing attempts. RB Kenyan Drake played half as many snaps in all and ran just 2 more routes than Edwards. He split time with Justice Hill. They combined for 3 rushes and 1 target. Edwards took his 16 run for just 52 yards but saved his fantasy line with a 1-yard TD early in the 4th quarter. Week 13 brings a Denver defense that has been weaker against the run than the pass for a while.
Ravens QB Lamar Jackson ran for 89 yards Sunday against the Jaguars to power a quality fantasy outing. He rushed a season-high 14 times and narrowly missed a 4th-quarter TD when tackled just short of the goal line. (RB Gus Edwards scored 2 plays later.) Jackson completed just half of his 32 pass attempts but tallied 254 yards, his 2nd largest total of the season. A 62-yard connection with WR DeSean Jackson helped, as did a 40-yarder to TE Josh Oliver. The latter led the team with 76 yards on 4 receptions, matching TE Mark Andrews for the team catch lead. Jackson caught 2 of 3 targets for 74 yards. WRs Devin Duvernay and Demarcus Robinson combined for just 4 receptions and 40 yards. Baltimore gets a tougher Denver pass defense in Week 13.
Browns WR Amari Cooper drew a target on 32.4% of QB Jacoby Brissett's dropbacks in Sunday's OT win over the Buccaneers, turning his 12 looks into 7 catches for 94 yards. Cooper could have had even more but dropped a long pass late in regulation. He made up for that with a 46-yard reception to set up the game-winning TD run in OT. For the game, Cooper accounted for 30.4% of Browns receptions and 44.8% of receiving yards. WR David Bell ranked 2nd among wideouts with 4 catches for 23 yards on 6 targets. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones contributed just 2 receptions for 16 yards among 4 targets. WR Anthony Schwartz added 1 catch but ran for a 31-yard TD on a 1st-quarter reverse. Browns receivers should have a new QB next time out, with Deshaun Watson eligible to return from suspension in Week 13.
Browns TE David Njoku returned to the top of the depth chart in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers and found the end zone. He ranked 2nd on the team in targets (7), receptions (5) and receiving yards (29) -- including a 12-yard TD late in the 4th quarter to send the game to OT. Pro Football Focus credited Njoku with the 3rd most routes run among Browns, 3 times as many as #2 TE Harrison Bryant. That marked a big rebound for Njoku vs. his Week 11 return from injury. He ran a route on 76.7% of Jacoby Brissett's 43 dropbacks. With Deshaun Watson back next week, Njoku looks like a weekly top-10 option the rest of the way.
49ers RB Elijah Mitchell is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Saints with a knee injury. We'll pass along an update when we get one.
Update: Mitchell has been ruled out.
Browns RB Nick Chubb delivered 116 yards and the game-winning TD on 26 carries Sunday against the Buccaneers. RB Kareem Hunt added just 15 yards on 5 carries plus a single catch for 6 yards. It was just the 2nd game with more than 16 carries for Chubb since Week 3 and his 2nd game of 100+ yards among the past 6. Next comes a high-ceiling rushing matchup with the Texans' league-worst run defense.
Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin caught 12 balls for 110 yards and a TD in Sunday's OT loss at Cleveland. Godwin's 13 targets led the team by 4, with RB Rachaad White the only other Buc to catch more than 3 balls. WR Mike Evans tied White for 2nd on the team with 9 targets but caught only 2 of them (for 31 yards). FB Ko Kieft snagged QB Tom Brady's other TD throw on his lone target.
The Buccaneers leaned back toward the pass in Sunday's OT loss at Cleveland, dropping back on 66.7% of offensive snaps. QB Tom Brady completed a decent 67.4% of his throws but tallied just 246 yards (5.7 yards per attempt). He did connect with WR Chris Godwin and FB Ko Kieft for TDs, but Godwin and RB Rachaad White were the only Bucs to catch more than 3 passes. WR Mike Evans struggled, catching just 2 of his 9 targets. Tampa gets a rematch with the Saints next. Brady threw for just 188 yards against them back in Week 2, as his team totaled a season-low 260 yards.
Buccaneers RB Rachaad White caught all 9 of his targets for 45 yards in Sunday's OT loss at Cleveland. He added 64 rushing yards on 14 carries, controlling the backfield work with Leonard Fournette (hip) out. Ke'Shawn Vaughn claimed the only other 4 RB carries, and no other Bucs RB drew a target. The team managed just 2 offensive TDs, on passes to Chris Godwin and Ko Kieft. We'll see about Fournette's status for Week 13.
Jets RB Michael Carter suffered an ankle injury in the 2nd half of Sunday's game vs. the Bears and is officially doubtful to return. With RB James Robinson scratched, New York is down to RBs Zonovan Knight and Ty Johnson.
Rams WR Allen Robinson (ankle) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Chiefs. Los Angeles will roll out WRs Van Jefferson, Ben Skowronek, Brandon Powell, Tutu Atwell and Lance McCutcheon.
Rams TE Tyler Higbee (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Chiefs. He got in just limited practices on Thursday and Friday, so it’s safe to assume that he’s not at 100%. Higbee will also be catching passes from QB Bryce Perkins. That keeps him outside our top 12 TEs for the week.
Chiefs S Juan Thornhill (calf) is inactive for today's game against the Rams.
Colts TE Kylen Granson (illness) is now listed as doubtful to face the Steelers on Monday night. Formerly, he was listed as questionable. Look for the Colts to lean on TEs Jelani Woods and Mo-Alie Cox against Pittsburgh.
Saints RB Mark Ingram (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the 49ers. He should step back in as New Orleans’ #2 RB behind Alvin Kamara but isn’t a fantasy option.
Saints EDGE Cameron Jordan (eye) is active for today's game against the 49ers, as is EDGE Marcus Davenport (calf). CB Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) is inactive. He still hasn't played since Week 5, recovering from what NewOrleans.Football calls a kidney injury.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Saints. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so there’s elevated risk here. But Samuel is available if you were waiting on him.
Bears WR Darnell Mooney hurt his left ankle in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Jets and is officially doubtful to return. We'll update his status when we know more.
Texans rookie LB Christian Harris left today's game against the Dolphins with a shoulder injury and has been ruled out. We'll see about his official diagnosis and return timeline.
Chargers CB Michael Davis (knee) is active for today's game against the Cardinals. He's a low-level IDP but has been a full-time player over the past 3 games.
