Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
LB Jerome Baker is a healthy scratch for his first game since the trade to the Titans. He did land on the injury report as questionable but was listed as "not injury related -- rest." (To be fair, it's a long flight from Seattle to Nashville.) That likely means Jack Gibbens starting next to Kenneth Murray, but it's tough to know how much playing time we can expect. After working as a starter for part of last season and playing 54% of snaps in this year's opener, Gibbens totaled just 17 snaps over the past five games before the Ernest Jones trade. I wouldn't recommend using Gibbens in fantasy lineups, but there's some tackle upside for deep formats.
Ravens WR Zay Flowers (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Browns. He only got in a limited practice on Friday, so it’s safe to assume he won’t be at 100% for this one. See where Flowers sits in the Week 8 WR Rankings.
Titans QB Will Levis (shoulder) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Lions. He was limited in practice all week and seemingly has a shot to be back for Week 9. QB Mason Rudolph gets another start today but shouldn’t be in any fantasy lineups.
Jets WR Allen Lazard (chest) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Patriots. Mike Williams figures to step in as the No. 3 WR but would be a desperation fantasy play.
Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (foot) is active for today’s game vs. the Cardinals. He was added to the injury report on Thursday and then did not practice on Friday, adding some risk to his Week 8 fantasy profile. But, with QB Tua Tagovailoa back, Hill is impossible to leave out of fantasy lineups.
Jaguars RB Travis Etienne (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Packers. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so we’re tentatively expecting Etienne back for Week 9. His absence today again leaves the backfield to RBs Tank Bigsby and D’Ernest Johnson. Bigsby should handle most of the rushing work but will cede passing-down snaps to Johnson. See where both guys land in the Week 8 RB Rankings.
Bucs RB Bucky Irving (toe) is active for today’s game vs. the Falcons. He only got in a limited practice on Friday and was listed as questionable, adding risk to the rookie’s Week 8 fantasy profile. The upside case is that Tampa Bay should lean on its RBs today with WRs Chris Godwin and Mike Evans out.
Bengals WR Tee Higgins (quad) is inactive for today’s game against the Eagles. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Higgins pulled a quad running a route in Friday’s practice. “He wanted to play today but just couldn’t do it physically,” Pelissero adds. Higgins’ absence leaves behind 9 targets per game for WR Ja’Marr Chase, WR Andrei Iosivas, and Cincinnati’s RBs and TEs.
Texans WR Nico Collins (hamstring) is "on track" to return when first eligible in Week 10, according to insider Aaron Wilson. Collins has been setback-free in his rehab so far, per Wilson, and has been clocked at 20 mph in his training. “It’s all very encouraging,” a source told Wilson. “Nico is doing well.” Collins was leading all WRs in PPR points through four healthy weeks and will return as a WR1 in fantasy lineups.
Bucs RB Bucky Irving (toe) is expected to play vs. the Falcons today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The rookie only got in a limited practice on Friday and is listed as questionable. It's safe to assume Irving won't be at 100% today, leaving him as risk/reward RB3 option for Week 8 fantasy lineups.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport calls Jaguars RB Travis Etienne (hamstring) a "long shot" to play vs. the Packers today. That'll again leave the backfield to RBs Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson. Bigsby is coming off a big Week 7 with positive game script against a leaky Patriots run defense. He continued to see very few passing-down snaps, though, which is a concern with the Jaguars 4-point underdogs today. It leaves Bigsby as a volatile Week 8 fantasy play.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (illness, wrist) is expected to play vs. the Cowboys tonight, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Samuel was hospitalized with fluid in his lungs just six days ago but seemingly made quick progress throughout this week. We'll look for updates on San Francisco's plans for Samuel tonight. But, with RB Christian McCaffrey and WRs Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings out, the 49ers could certainly use Samuel to take on big volume. See where he sits in the Week 8 WR Rankings.
Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Chiefs today, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. This was expected after Meyers was a full-go in Friday's practice. He missed the last two games but totaled 19 targets in his two games without WR Davante Adams this season. Meyers is a volume-based WR3 option for fantasy lineups today.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (hip) is expected to play vs. the Saints today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The rookie only got in a limited practice on Friday, although he was able to play through this hip issue in this past Monday night's loss to the Cardinals. We're expecting McConkey to be in his usual role today.
Ravens WR Zay Flowers (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Browns today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is a little more pessimistic, writing that Flowers "will have a pre-game workout to determine his status." We'll get Baltimore's inactives around 11:30 am ET. Flowers clearly won't be at 100% if he does give it a go today.
Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (foot) is expected to play against the Cardinals today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Hill popped up on Thursday's injury report and then did not practice on Friday. But, barring any further reports on his status, he should be in Week 8 fantasy lineups.
49ers TE George Kittle (foot) is expected to play vs. the Cowboys tonight, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Kittle is listed as questionable after getting in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. He carries more risk than usual but would be very tough to leave out of Week 8 fantasy lineups. Kittle has finished as a top-10 PPR TE in all six of his games.
"All signs point" to Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (rib) starting today's game vs. the Bears, ESPN's Adam Schefter writes. "The Commanders still will need to see how Daniels is feeling Sunday in pregame warmups before making any final determination about whether he can start," Schefter adds. Daniels is officially listed as questionable after returning to a limited practice on Friday and then participating in Saturday's walkthrough. We won't get Washington's inactives until a little before 3 pm ET today, so you should have another late-game QB rostered as insurance if you're hoping to start Daniels. The rib issue obviously adds risk to his Week 8 fantasy profile, on top of the matchup against a strong Chicago pass defense. The Bears are much more susceptible on the ground, but it's possible that Daniels' rushing is scaled back today.
ESPN's Dan Graziano hears that there's "pessimism" about Bengals WR Tee Higgins' availability for Sunday's game vs. the Eagles. Higgins was added to the injury report with a quad on Friday, limited in practice, and listed as questionable. "The Bengals are planning to go right up until game time before deciding" on Higgins' status, Graziano adds. We'll look for more updates on Higgins on Sunday morning and get Cincinnati's inactives around 11:30 am ET. His absence would mean more target potential for WR Ja'Marr Chase, WR Andrei Iosivas, and the Bengals RBs and TEs. It'd also be a significant loss for QB Joe Burrow.
Steelers RB Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Monday night's game vs. the Giants. He put in three limited practices this week but will now aim for a return after a Week 9 bye. RBs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren will continue to handle backfield touches for Pittsburgh on Monday night.
